Chicken Broccoli Bacon Bake

I love simple, delicious, and healthy meals. That's exactly what this recipe is. If you need new recipes, this is one I highly recommend trying. It's full of protein and veggies and still tastes amazing.

I love me some bacon and chicken combined. It has been so difficult to find new simple recipes that my whole family will enjoy, that are still healthy, but this one definitely does the trick.

I took a healthy spin off our Easy Cheesy Chicken and Broccoli Casserole recipe, and created something a little more calorie and fat free friendly.

My entire family gobbled this right up and I ate the leftovers for lunch the next day. It definitely feeds a crowd, so if you have a bigger family, this recipe would be perfect.

what could i replace the bacon with?

This is a pretty healthy dish, but the bacon could add a few calories and grams of fat, however, it adds just the perfect amount of flavor.

If you are looking for a bacon alternative, we highly recommend using turkey bacon rather than pork bacon. Both are delicious in this recipe and add the perfect hint of savory, but we do personally love the pork bacon in this recipe.

How could i make this recipe more creamy?

This recipe is very simple and delicious. However, if you like your food a little more saucy and creamy, you may want to add something with a more soft or liquid base such as:

  • sour cream
  • cream cheese
  • cottage cheese
  • cream of chicken soup (you could also use fat free)

We are huge casserole fans at our house. We have lots of casserole dishes you can find on our website. I personally love any casserole that has bacon, cheese and chicken, so this recipe is a total favorite at our house.

Although it’s not as creamy as most casseroles, it still has a ton of flavor and is healthy too, making this recipe a win win.

This recipe only requires a few simple ingredients that you may already have on hand. Here they are:

  1. 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (cooked and cubed)
  2. 3 cups steamed broccoli
  3. 10 slices bacon (cooked and chopped)
  4. 1 1/2 cups plain Greek yogurt
  5. 1 Tablespoon ranch dressing mix
  6. 1 teaspoon roasted garlic seasoning
  7. 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  8. 1 cup fresh mushrooms
  9. 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese

how to make chicken broccoli bacon bake:

This is a simple recipe with only a few simple steps.

I am all about shortcuts and I have everything cooked and chopped beforehand.

First, you will want to spray a 9×13 inch pan with non stick cooking spray. Then place the chicken on the bottom of the pan, followed by the bacon and the broccoli.

In a bowl, combine the plain Greek yogurt, ranch dressing mix, roasted garlic seasoning and pepper. Spread it over the chicken, broccoli and bacon.

Add the mushrooms on top of the cream layer.

Cover the mushroom layer with mozzarella cheese.

Bake and enjoy.

would this recipe work with different meat?

I have only made this recipe with chicken but you could easily switch out the chicken for:

  1. Ground Chicken
  2. Ground Turkey
  3. Turkey Breast
  4. Ham
  5. Ground Beef

I personally prefer the chicken, but any of the above meats would be delicious in this recipe.

could i make this recipe ahead of time?

This recipe is all pre-cooked, so it is simple to just throw it all together. If you know it is going to be busy in the evening when you usually make dinner, you can make this dish in the morning, cover it with foil and place it in your fridge until about 30 minutes before you eat.

When you are almost ready to eat dinner, remove the foil. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and bake this casserole dish for 20-25 minutes or until it is cooked through and warm, and all the cheese is melted.

We don’t recommend making it more than 24 hours in advance.

recipe shortcuts and protips:

The thing I love most about this recipe are the shortcuts you can take to make this recipe simple, quick, and just as delicious.

Here is what we recommend:

  • Precooked chicken that is shredded or cubed: You could use a rotisserie chicken, or you can request cooked and shredded chicken at most deli’s in your grocery store.
  • Precooked bacon: It’s not as good as the fresh stuff, but it is still delicious, and a whole lot less dishes and clean up. All you have to do is cut it up, and it will cook and warm up once you bake it.
  • Steamable broccoli: This is one you can’t really avoid the cooked broccoli smell, but I still use the steamable broccoli bags from the freezer section at my grocery store. It’s quick, simple, and tastes just as delicious.

  • 10 strips bacon (cooked and crumbled)
  • 1 1/2 cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 Tablespoon ranch dressing mix
  • 1 teaspoon roasted garlic seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Spray a 9 x 13 inch pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Place the chicken on the bottom of the pan and top with broccoli and bacon.
