This Roasted Ham Shank Recipe is a great way to make a boneless ham hock from the grocery store. With only 4 ingredients, you will not get a better ham with such a simple glaze.
Types of Ham
You’ll find several traditional types of ham that work perfectly for a sweet ham roast at big family dinners.
To begin with, country ham leans salty and dry, making it ideal for those who love bold flavor. Be sure to cook it fully before serving.
Next, smoked ham starts as a cured ham that’s then smoked, giving it a savory, smoky taste and a tender texture. This is the same type used to make Black Forest ham.
In contrast, fresh ham isn’t cured at all. It’s an excellent choice for slow cooking because it stays juicy and flavorful.
Finally, city ham makes weeknight meals simple. Since it’s already cured and fully cooked, you only need to heat it for a few minutes before it’s ready to enjoy.
