How to Make Our Homemade Shake And Bake Pork Chops
- Set your oven: preheat the oven to 425℉. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top of it.
- Prepare the pork chops: brush the pork chops with olive oil on all sides and set aside.
- Combine all: add the breadcrumbs, Italian herbs, paprika powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper into a large zip lock bag.
- Coat the pork: add the pork chops, one at a time into a zip-lock bag. Close the bag and shake well until the pork chop is coated completely. Repeat with the second pork chop.
- Baking time: Place the coated pork chops onto the wire rack. Bake the pork chops for 15 minutes. Carefully flip the pork chops and bake for another 10 minutes.
- Serve the pork chops warm, with fresh salad, mashed potatoes, or desired side dish.
Shake and Bake Variations
- Make this spicy by adding a little bit of cayenne pepper, chili powder, or crushed red pepper.
- Add parmesan chees with the breadcrumb coating for a nice twist.

Expert Tips
- Pat dry your pork chops before you brush them with oil.
- If you want a crispier crust, bake the pork chops on a wire rack. The wire rack method allows the air to go around the pork and cook it perfectly. Also, the pork chops will not be soaking in their juices during the cooking time, and you will always have a crispy crust.
- For easier breading, you can use Italian breadcrumbs. These breadcrumbs are already seasoned and will pair great with the pork.
Storage and Reheating Instructions
- Fridge: Use an airtight container to store the remaining breaded pork to keep them crisp for up to 5 days in the fridge.
- Reheat: To reheat place the pork on a baking sheet in the oven at 350℉ for 15 minutes, or until heated through.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! This recipe works well to make breaded chicken and breaded steak.
You will want to be sure to pat the raw meat dry of any excess moisture to be sure that the oil and juices don’t mix. With only the oil on the meat it helps crips up the breading well.
You can! Reduce the heat to 400℉ and cook for 15 minutes, flip the pork, and then cook for another 10-15 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the pork at least reaches 145℉ for safe consumption.

Are these fresh bread crumbs or are they dried???
We like to use dried breadcrumbs
where are all the carbs coming from? The breadcrumbs?
Yes the breadcrumbs add the carbs. You can calculate the exact number of carbs using an app like MyFitnessPal and entering in the exact brand of each ingredient you are using
I made this last night and when flipping the pork chops over almost all the bread crumb mixture fell off. Also, the under side didnt have much crumb mixture on it when flipped up. Wondering if these shouldn’t be fried to lightly brown on both sides first then baked? The seasoning was good.
This recipe was so easy and tasty to make! Adding to to the rotation – kids and husband loved it.
