Recipe Ingredient Notes
To make our Instant Pot honey glazed ham, you need the following ingredients:
- Water
- Boneless spiral ham
- Dijon mustard
- Brown sugar
- Honey
- Nutmeg
- Cinnamon
Equipment Needed
For this recipe, you only need a few simple kitchen tools. We recommend using the following equipment:
How to Make Our Instant Pot Honey Glazed Ham
- Start by getting your Instant Pot out and plug it in. Then place the trivet in the bottom of the Instant Pot with the handles going up.
- Then, using an aluminum foil piece, mold it in the shape of a boat and place the ham on top of it.
- Now, using a small bowl mix together the mustard, brown sugar, honey, nutmeg, and cinnamon until it is completely combined.
- Then use the pastry brush to brush the marinade on top of the ham and in between the slices of the ham to ensure to get the ham extra juicy.
- Once you have it all brushed with the honey marinade place the ham in the Instant Pot on top of the trivet.
- After the ham is in the Instant Pot, place the lid on top and turn the valve to the “SEALING” position. Then, press the “MANUAL” or “PRESSURE COOK” or “HIGH PRESSURE” and set the timer for 4 minutes.
- When the time runs out, you are going to let the Instant Pot do a natural release (not doing anything) for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, then move the valve to the “VENTING” position and let the rest of the pressure release.
- Once the pin drops indicating that all of the pressure has been released, take the lid off the Instant Pot and remove the ham, put it on a serving dish and take the inner pot and pour the remaining sauce over top of the ham.
Recipe Notes
- Cook time: Technically, you will only set the timer for 4 minutes, but make sure that you account for the 10 minute natural release, and the time it takes the Instant Pot to pressurized. Even then, it takes about 35 minutes for a whole 3-4 pound ham to cook.
- Remember to use an instant-read thermometer, when checking for doneness, to ensure the ham cooks to an internal temperature between 135-150 degrees Fahrenheit. This guarantees a juicy, fully cooked ham that’s safe for consumption.
Storage Suggestions
After enjoying this delicious ham, store any leftovers in an airtight container or wrap the ham slices tightly in plastic wrap to keep them fresh. The leftover ham pieces make fantastic additions to sandwiches, salads, or other recipes.

Is there a way to make this if I don’t have a trivet for my instant pot?
Thanks!! 🙂
I think you place a bowl in pot upside down to keep ham in foil above water.
Most instant pots come with a small trivet in the box. But don’t worry, there are a lot of household items that you can use in place of a trivet. The old standby substitute for a trivet is the the metal lid of a large jar, but suitable substitutes can include stainless steel cookie cutters, a screen from the food mill, an upside down ceramic or stainless steel bowl, a steamer basket, and even a real trivet that is just the right size can go from the table and into the cooker!

If you xant find your trivia place balls of aluminum foil in the instant pot and a ball in center works great!
How long would I cook a bone in ham?
You don’t mention it in the preparation but I would presume that you would slice the ham before putting it in the instant pot, the only question I have is do you slice it all the way through or just enough to let the glacé sip in
Anything you can put in the oven you can use. I do it all the time.
We used a spiral sliced ham, so it was sliced most of the way through. Then all those yummy flavors can soak in.
Does a bone in spiral ham work? Different cooking time?
Bone in spiral ham will work, just be sure it fits in your pot. Cooking time will be the same.
Thank you! Did a Walmart order and they gave me an 11 pound ham. If this fits in my IP, would the cook time change?
I’m interested in this as well, as the same happened to me!!
Cook time is the same.
Can I use a boneless ham that is all my grocery store had
Yes, boneless ham will work great too.
I love this recipe. i was wondering though, could it be made with Splenda Brown Sugar?
Just use half a cup of Splenda Brown Sugar Blend for every full cup of brown sugar called for. You can use it anywhere you would use brown sugar; baked goods, sauces, beverages, and more.
My family really loves this ham recipe, and it was so easy to make 😋
How long would this cook in a slow cooker
We’ve got a recipe for that! Check it out here.
I have an 8lb spiral ham. Is the cook time the same? 4 mins?
The cook time would be longer for an 8lb ham. You could try 8 minutes for that size
