Homemade Whole Wheat Waffles Recipe

I’ve been trying to use whole wheat flour more often, but my family doesn’t seem to like it as much as I do!  I thought if I could hide it in waffles that they might not mind.  These waffles were so delicious and my entire family gobbled them up!

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 Tablespoons sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups lukewarm milk
  • 2/3 cup melted butter or vegetable oil


  1. Preheat waffle iron.  
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.  
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, warm milk and butter or oil.  
  4. Add egg mixture to dry ingredients and stir until just combined.  
  5. Pour prepared batter into waffle iron and cook until golden brown.
