Choosing the right slow Cooker
For this recipe, you’ll need a good slow cooker. Did you know every one of us sisters uses a different slow cooker?
We’re all in different stages of life with different schedules, and because of that we need different things from our slow cookers!
Here are a few suggestions to take into consideration before selecting yours.
How big is your family? If you have a large family, we’d recommend looking at an 8 quart slow cooker so you can make sure your recipes fit all in one.

What are your slow cooker needs? Do you need a self timer while you’re gone at the office all day? Or do the simple high and low settings work for your lifestyle?

How to choose the right roast
Choosing the right cut of meat can be the trickiest part to making the perfect roast. Here are a few tips when selecting yours.
For this recipe, we recommend a chuck roast (cut from the shoulder). This cut has just enough fat that gets melted away during the slow and low cooking method, creating perfectly tender meat.
Look for meat with a lot of small marbling. This means more flavor and a more tender meat once it’s roasted all day in your slow cooker and that fat melts away.
Avoid roasts with large ribbons of fat. Lots of fat will result in a greasy and fatty pot roast.
If a good chuck roast isn’t available, we’d recommend a rump roast next.

How to Make Gravy from Slow Cooker drippings
Your roast has been cooking all day long and is probably smelling delicious at this point! But now that it’s getting closer to serving time, it’s time to make the gravy.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt your butter.
- Stir in your flour creating a roux for your gravy.
- Slowly pour in strained liquids from slow cooker while whisking.
- Continue whisking over medium heat until desired consistency is reached. Gravy will thicken over time.

Fall Apart Slow Cooker Pot Roast Recipe
Ingredients
- 3 pound chuck roast
- 1 ounce dry ranch dressing mix, 1 packet
- 1 ounce Au Just gravy mix, 1 packet
- 5 pepperoncini peppers, sliced
- ¼ cup butter
- ½ cup beef broth
Gravy
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 2 Tablespoons flour
- 2 cups drippings from slow cooker
Equipment
Instructions
- Place pot roast in greased slow cooker.
- Top with ranch dressing mix, gravy mix, pepperocini peppers, and pats of butter.
- Pour beef broth over roast.
- Cook on low for 8 hours
Gravy

This is the best beef roast that I have ever tasted! While I am not generally fond of beef roast, I have put this on my weekly menu rotation. My entire family loves it! The pepperoni was a little warm for me, so I substitute a jar of banana peppers. It blends perfectly with the Ranch seasoning and the butter. And the prep time is so quick! Ladies, great job with this recipe!!!

Hello! I am wondering if you use a frozen or thawed roast for this recipe? If not frozen, would it be okay to use frozen?
We recommend that the roast be thawed before cooking in the slow cooker.
