- In a separate bowl whisk together soup, cream cheese, and dressing mix. Spoon over meat and potatoes in slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low temperature setting for 7 to 9 hours or on high temperature setting for 4 hours.
- Use the extra sauce as a gravy for the meat and potatoes.
Recipe Notes
To keep from the pork roast from drying out, it’s best to cook pork on low. The high heat can cook similar to boiling, where the low setting on your slow cooker will be more of a braise. Just watch it toward the end of cooking time so you don’t overcook it. Pork shoulder roasts will self baste and stay moist.

Made this for dinner tonight. Was deeeeeeelish! Awesome recipe.
Would you happen to know the Instant Pot conversion?
Can I use russet potatoes? I don’t have red taters.
You can definitely use Russet Potatoes! They will taste great.
Can I add carrots and onion to this?
Carrots and onions are delicious in this pork roast recipe. We love adding in veggies we have on hand.
Threw this in the crockpot before we went to church and ate it when we got back. This has amazing flavor! We used cream of mushroom soup and added mushrooms, carrots and onion and halved the cream cheese. It tasted so good! Not your average pot roast!
What can I substitute for the soup?
How do you prevent the cream cheese from separating in the crock pot? Every time I’ve added dairy to the crock pot, it has not been a happy ending.
Can’t wait 😊
Excellent flavor and chops were tender but dry. Do you sou suggest brining chops?
Can this be a freezer dump and go meal? Or should it be prepared the day of cooking?
This could be a dump and go meal. The potatoes may get a little discolored. It’s also pretty easy to to throw in the day of with only 10 minutes prep time.
