A few years ago, we made this Layered Green Cobb Salad and it has been a staple at our family gatherings ever since.
I love this recipe because it is flexible, meaning you can change the ingredients out for ones that you love and prefer.
My husband and I recently went to a new restaurant and had such a delicious cobb salad that I knew I had to find a way to make it to feed a crowd.
This salad takes a little bit of preparation but is so worth it. All of the layers combine to make the most amazing flavor.
If you don’t have a large glass bowl to show the layers, you can just toss all the ingredients together in whatever bowl you have. Either way, it is one salad everyone is going to love!
How to make Cobb Salad a meal
This Cobb salad can easily be turned into a main dish by adding a little protein. We have added all kinds of meat to this salad. I prefer adding cooked shredded chicken because I think that tastes best with the bacon.
My husband loves when we add steak to this salad. It’s extremely filling with all the vegetables and eggs, but adding a little meat to it, is perfect to keep my husband happy and full.
We have also added cooked shredded turkey to this recipe and it was tasty. If you ever cook a large turkey and have a lot of leftovers, we recommend freezing them and adding them to this salad.
Another shortcut is grilling extra chicken and using it for this salad the next day or later that week. We are all about short cuts and making meals fast, so we definitely recommend preparing a little extra food for later on in the week to cut your preparation time down.
What to serve with Cobb salad
We love making this salad for potlucks and barbecues. If you aren’t adding any extra meat to it to turn it into a main dish, we have a few main dish recommendations:
