What could I replace the Italian sausage with?
I personally love Italian sausage, but I get it isn’t for everyone. If you are looking to replace it, here is what I recommend:
- Chicken Sausage
- Ground Beef
- Ground Turkey
- Shredded or Grilled Chicken
What could I pair this recipe with?
I love pasta and soup, but combine it, and I am in heaven. If I could live anywhere in the world, it would probably be Italy, so I could eat homemade pasta day in and day out, for the rest of my life.
Not only that, but they have some amazing bread and sweets there as well.
Here are a few of my favorite bread side dishes to pair with this pasta dish:
We also love to serve our bread and pasta or soup with salad. Here are a few of our favorite salad recipes:
You could really pair it with any vegetable, but a nice fresh crisp salad with some Italian dressing has got to be my favorite combination with this pasta.
I also like to dip my bread in both the pasta sauce and the salad dressing. You can’t go wrong with salad, pasta, and bread.

Just made this and it is AWESOME! It was definitely a winner with my husband too.
Does anyone know how many servings this makes? I didn’t see it anywhere in the recipe. I have to make something that serves 10 to 12 people for a Crock Pot Hootenanny.
Do I add the water to the tomato soup?
No, just add the ingredients listed.
Am I correct …I believe I had found a Lasagne Soup recipe here on SixSisters that called for kalbasa sausage? AND placing the bowl sprinkled with mozzarella cheese under the broiler? I’m pretty sure I found it on here last summer???
I feel like this is a different version than what you had before for crock pot lasagna soup. Ive made your crock pot lasagna soup several times in the past but recently I tried looking up the recipe and when I got to this, it looks different than I remember. I dont remember it calling for sausage. Is there a different recipe? And older one perhaps? I have it pinned on pinterest, with an older picture but when I open it, it takes me to this and I swear its not the same.
We have updated the picture because the other one was quite old. You could definitely sub ground beef or any meat of your choice for the sausage.
I thought the same! I used to use kidney beans with the old recipe…
Yeah, I used to add kidney beans as well. In the older recipe with the older picture, it shows kidney beans in it.
