Recipe Ingredient Notes

To make our slow cooker deep dish pizza, you need the following ingredients:

• Prepared pizza dough; fresh pizza dough (You can find this in the prepared foods section. Whole Foods has a great version) 
• Cornmeal 
• Shredded mozzarella 
• Prepared marinara (or pizza sauce or a homemade tomato sauce)
• Thinly sliced pepperoni
• Sliced black olives
• Sliced mushrooms
• Green bell pepper, thinly sliced 
• Shredded parmesan
• Italian seasoning (optional)

Equipment Needed

For this recipe, you only need a few simple kitchen tools. We recommend using the following equipment:

• Slow Cooker
• Non-stick Cooking Spray
• Dish Towel
• Pizza Cutter

How to make Slow Cooker Deep Dish Pizza

1. Grease the basin of the slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray or olive oil. 
2. Press the pizza dough into the bottom of the slow cooker and about 2 inches up the sides of the slow cooker more or less depending on how you want the thick crust. 
3. Spread shredded mozzarella cheese over the dough. 
4. Cover evenly with marinara. 
5. Distribute the layer of pepperoni, sliced black olives, sliced mushrooms, and sliced bell peppers evenly over the sauce. 
6. Cover the toppings with shredded parmesan cheese. 
7. Stretch the dough up the sides as needed to ensure that the filling stays within the dough. 
8. Place a dish towel over the slow cooker and cover it with the lid. 
9. Cook on high for 3 hours.

Storage Suggestions and Recipe Notes

You can either keep the pizzas in the oval slow cooker, or you can place the leftover pizza in an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 4 days. If you store it in the slow cooker, place a long piece of paper towel over the top of the insert and place the top over it to keep the crisp crust and avoid having a soggy mess.
