Chicken and Waffle Sliders with Buttermilk Syrup Recipe

When I first heard of this concoction.. I didn’t think I could do it. A sweet breakfast bread with chicken? life changing. It is seriously such a yummy combo! And the buttermilk syrup brings it all together. So tasty, and so easy. This is a perfect treat for tailgates, parties, or even a fun dinner!

  • 1 bag Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips
  • 1 box mini toaster waffles (you can also make your own, but this was just faster).
  • For The Buttermilk Syrup:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons Karo syrup
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda


  1. Cook chicken strips according to package instructions.
  2. Toast waffles according to package instructions.
  3. Once chicken and waffles are fully cooked, cut them to desired bite-size shape and dimensions (I cut mine about 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" squares, but you can keep them in their mini circles).
  4. For The Buttermilk Syrup:
  5. Heat stove top to medium-high heat.
  6. Use a large pot so the liquid doesn't boil over.
  7. Place the butter, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, Karo syrup, and buttermilk in the pot.
  8. Mix until all the ingredients are fully combined and the mixture begins to bubble.
  9. Let mixture bubble for about 45 seconds, stirring constantly.
  10. Remove the pot from heat and add the baking soda.
  11. Mix until well combined.
  12. Place the pot back on the heat, and let the syrup bubble for another 45 seconds, stirring constantly.
  13. Take off of heat, continue to stir until it cools down a little and the bubbles disappear.
  14. Serve warm and enjoy!
