I love bacon and chicken so this combination was a total winner for our family. Add a little bit of delicious and sweet apple flavor to it, and your tastebuds will die and go to heaven.
It’s quick, simple, full of flavor, and incredibly easy to make.
If you know it’s going to be a crazy night, we highly recommend throwing this in the slow cooker in the morning, to enjoy at night.

could i make this recipe using any form of chicken?

For this recipe, we have only tried it using boneless skinless chicken breasts. However, I am sure it would work just as well if you used any form of boneless meat.

We love using boneless chicken thighs, because the meat is so juicy and tender. It’s also a little darker. Chicken tenders would also work great with this recipe.

Chicken with the bone in, might get a little tricky and cook a little differently, so we recommend no bones.

You could also cook the chicken on high for 4 hours, but we recommend cooking it on low for longer, for a more juicy chicken.

a faster way to grate your apples:

For this recipe, we recommend you peel your apples so the skin doesn’t ruing the texture of the meal.

We don’t recommend using the core of the apple either because of the seeds and it’s a little more tough. For this recipe, you can use a cheese grater to grate the apples, but you could also use a blender or food processor.

Again we recommend peeling the skin and removing the core if you plant to give them a quick pulse in the food processor or blender, but grating them words great.

You could also use apple sauce if you don’t have any apples, but the bigger apple pieces taste amazing with this recipe.

  1. Can you please clarify the order of the following?
"pour BBQ/apple mixture over the chicken. Wrap 2 pieces of bacon around each chicken breast."

Are you supposed to wrap the bacon around the chicken coated in the apple/BBQ mix, or are you supposed to wrap the chicken breasts first and then pour the sauce over the bacon/chicken combination?

  2. What type of apple and BBQ sauce did you use? Made this tonight with a granny smith apple and Open Pit bbq; thought the tart apple would work with the lemon and the thinner sauce would be good. It was tastey but I'm wondering if something a little sweeter (a Sweet Baby Ray's maybe?) would be even better. Thanks for the yummy recipe!
  3. I am going to make this Thursday for Vday. My boyfriend loves bacon. I have 2 questions. The first one, we don't have to cook the bacon at all before we wrap it around the chicken right? And secondly, what sort of apples are the best to use? I have Macintosh, should I buy something different? I am also planning on using Budwiser BBQ sauce since I already have it. Think that combination will be good?

    Im so excited!

I would like to compliment you on your great blog and also ask you to check your print friendly logo as I have not as of late been able to copy any of the wonderful recipes you have on your site. I can't afford to waste the ink on the great remarks you receive as it takes from five to seven pages of remarks to get one recipe. If it isn't too much trouble would you check out the print friendly. It would be appreciated. Thanks
