As you know… it is HOT out there.
Being pregnant I just wanted something cold that would make my cravings happy. I found a recipe from my old roommate that I was so excited to try: Frozen Grasshopper Pie.
I have tried grasshopper pie with marshmallow cream before but this one has sweetened condensed milk and it is SO good.
If you are a chocolate and mint lover, you are going to go crazy for this recipe. It is so simple to throw together and tastes absolutely amazing. I love a good dessert recipe that is simple, and delicious, but this one wins. It is all my favorite things and so easy to make.
You can make your own Oreo pie crust, or you can use a store bought one, on the baking aisle. Either way, this recipe will not disappoint.
could i make this recipe without the sweetened condensed milk?
For this recipe, we highly recommend making it with the sweetened condensed milk. It makes it sweeter, more creamy, and creates a more ice cream texture.
We have never made it without the sweetened condensed milk, but I don’t imagine why we ever would. This recipe is delicious as is, and I believe that is from the sweetened condensed milk. You’ll love it.
add some extra mint:
We love mint and chocolate at our house, but if you are wanting to make this recipe a little extra minty, we recommend adding a few (and just about 2-3 drops) of mint extract to the mixture.
If you add to much, it will be a very powerful flavor, but if you like it a little more minty, we recommend adding just a little more.
garnish with extra chocolate:
I love this recipe as is, but I also have an obsession with chocolate. You could easily add more chocolate to this recipe, if desired.
We recommend adding mini chocolate chips to the mixture or even garnishing it with mini chocolate chips.
You could also melt your chocolate chips and do a drizzle on top, or use ice cream chocolate syrup to garnish as well. Be creative with your grasshopper pie, and make it to your liking, whether it be more chocolate or not.

what could be substituted to cream cheese cool whip? thank you for replying…
Hi Joyce. We have only made this recipes as printed. Not sure what you could use in place of cream cheese and cool whip. Whatever you substituted would definitely change the taste and texture.
Just made this…. except I didn’t realize when to add the can of milk. I hope it isn’t ruined. Maybe it was my fault and I should have realized by the directions stating “cream the cream cheese” that I should have added the milk at that point. It wasn’t obvious to me. I hope adding it after the fact will not ruin the recipe because I don’t have cool whip to make another :(. It would be helpful to those who are less familiar in the kitchen if it was listed as a step in the recipe :(.
