Elyse’s Sweet and Tangy Meatballs recipe were one of the first recipes on our blog and my family LOVES it. I was planning on making it for dinner the other day when I realized that I had forgotten to purchase meatballs. There was no way that I had time to make my own, so I started rummaging through the freezer and came across some pork chops. I threw the pork chops in the slow cooker (frozen!), dumped the ingredients on top and . . .it was a huge success! The picture might make you think otherwise, but I promise you- these chops are good!

Did You Make This Recipe? We’d love to hear your thoughts! Leave a review or a question in the comment section below the post.

What kind of chili sauce do you use?
We use Heinz or even the store brand. They all work fine.
love your site and recipes so good keep up the excellent work 🙂
Darn I wish I’d looked at the comments before my shopping trip this morning. I got hot chili sauce from the Asian food area of the store! Well… Should I try it or should I go back to get the other kind?
We aren’t sure what the hot chili sauce from the Asian food area tastes like in comparison to regular chili sauce found by the ketchup. The chili sauce by the ketchup is basically ketchup with a kick to it!
I made this the other day. I put the pork chops in frozen on low and left for the day and they ended up drying out 🙁 if I make it again I wont have it on as long.
Sounds delish! I have pork chops, but they are bone-in. Would they work?
Bone in will work great too!
Sometimes our tooth fairy has a sense of humor. She likes to hide the money. In very strange, hard to find places. Sometimes I need to help them “find” the money. So when one of the kiddos tells me their tooth was forgotten, I tell them I’ll help them find it in a few minutes. Around here, the going rate is a dollar. If I remember, I ask the bank for a silver dollar. If they don’t have any, or if I need a few minutes before I “help” my kiddos find the money, they get dollar origami. We even have a book about it. But I’m sure there are plenty of dollar origami ideas online.
Hi.. Just want to make sure.. I’m quite a newbie in this cooking world.. So i must warn you that this next question might sound dumb as it is.. 🙂
Do i need to add water in all of the recipe using the slow cooker?
Imagining that it’ll take a long time cooking..
Thank you for the enlightenment.. 🙂
Hi Maria, with Six Sisters slow cooker recipes we will be sure to include something like water in the directions. So don’t add it unless directed. Hope this helps. Meat has a lot of it’s own liquid and the ingredients you add with the recipe will create some moisture as well.
I wish the instructions had said what kind of chili sauce! I went to the store last night and got a can saying chili sauce without beans.
Mine came out dry too, but my kids loved the flavor. I’m just going to watch closely this time! I have learned that newer slowcookers (like mine) cook faster and hotter than older ones. Also mine is quite large, and I have found that smaller recipes cook too hot in it.
Will sriracha sauce work?
It should work fine since it’s a type of chili sauce.
Hi, I’m in South Africa and our food terminology is mainly British. I presume that what you refer to as “grape jelly” is what we would call grape jam
We have grape jelly and grape jam in our grocery stores. You will be fine using grape jam!
I made this last night for dinner and I highly recommend this recipe if you have not already tried it! Before making this delicious meal I read some of the comments and some mentioned about how their pork chops came out dry….I had bought boneless ones that weren’t too thick so I kept mine in the slow cooker for prob about 5.50 hours and just kept checking periodically with a fork to make sure it wasn’t drying out. Who knew grape jelly and a bottle of chili sauce would taste so good…so easy but yet so so good! 🙂
Can you really taste the jelly, im asking because i dont like jelly really, or does it just give a sweet flavor?
this recipe was awesome, yummy! My husband and kids loved it too!! Thanks you
This sounds delicious! What kind of side dish would you recommend?
I would pair this with rice and a veggie.
This sauce, the chili sauce and grape jelly is awesome on meatballs as stated in the story, can’t wait to try on pork chops or even a pork tenderloin!
Some type of vegetable, roll or bread stick and maybe a side salad. Just go to the main page of our blog and then click on recipe index. We have a tab that is side dishes/vegetables. You should be able to find all the sides need to go along with the glazed pork chops.
Wow, these were so easy and tasty! I was pressed for time so I pounded out my four thick, boneless pork chops a little bit, salt and peppered them and browned them in a bit of olive oil before adding to the slow cooker which I set on low. They were ready in 3 hours and were tender and juicy with just the right amount of flavor. I served them with scalloped potatoes, fresh steamed broccoli and French bread. My family loved them! Definitely going into my regular rotation of meals. Thanks!
I made this and unfortunately I ended up with so much liquid, the chops were basically boiled. Great flavor, but is there any way to cut down the liquid that accumulates? I had thick cut chops(thawed), one bottle of chili sauce and the cup of grape jelly. 8 hours on low
Instead of the the chili sauce and jelly,do you think using pepper jelly would be good?
I tried this with country style ribs, and instead of grape jelly I used a ca of cranberry sauce and chili sauce. It was delicious!
Has anyone tried this with other Jelly I am just not a fan of grape so its never in my house I was wondering if maybe strawberry or blackberry or raspberry would taste good?
You don’t have to use grape jelly (which we never have in the house) — I used leftover cranberry sauce from the holidays (we prefer the jellied version but I think either kind would work) and it was fabulous. Perhaps a little more “zing” than with grape jelly, but I’m not sure that’s a bad thing. The sauce was a little thin, but I’d rather have that than too thick (and dry pork chops). I used very thick chops and they were so tender they literally fell apart. Will definitely make again (probably anytime we have leftover cranberry sauce, since we have turkey all year ’round). Thanks for a great and easy recipe!!
I use grape jam/jelly & chili sauce with beef kielbasa – put it in the crock pot and serve it as an appetizer for get-togethers. You can also use it with hot dogs, cocktail meatballs etc. Everyone loves it – I never have any leftover…
I would have doubled the chili sauce and jelly amounts for that many pork chops Doesn’t seem like enough liquids for that many pork chops and the length of time it cooks. I know my family would love this cause they love the meatballs in this sauce and I have to make it every get together.
Could you do this in the oven instead of the crock pot?
This should work fine in the oven tool
My sauce is very runny. Is that how it’s supposed to be. You’re picture makes it seem like a thick glaze?
I’m making this as our dinner this evening and it’s been on the crockpot for 3 hours on low but there is a lot of liquid inside. It looks as though the pork chops are boiling. I wanted a chop that looked glazed as your picture did. If you could please respond to the few of us that have this same question, I’d appreciate it. It seems as though you have answered all questions except for the ones indicating lots of liquid. Thank you.
Hi Rita,
We can only see the recent comments that show up in our comment feed. So if some came in a while back and didn’t get answered, I am sorry. Reading over the comments some people had plenty of liquid and some say their pork turned out a little dry. Every slow cooker can vary and brands people use and amounts will also vary. We followed the directions as indicated. We use a slotted spoon when removing the pork chops from the slow cooker. So there isn’t liquid all over our plate. Hope this helps. Keep a close eye on your slow cooker to see if your cooking time may vary from the recipe. Some slow cookers run hotter than others, and some are on the cooler side. Best of luck and we hope you have a great week.
Will the sauce thicken up a bit looks a bit watery in the crock pot
You will have liquid in the slow cooker because of the bbq sauce. Some of it will cook on top of the pork chops and it thickens. You can also pour any extra liquid over the pork chops after putting on your plate for serving.
you can help thicken your sauce with a slurry of cornstarch and water…
I have always used grape jelly and Heinz Chili sauce to make meatballs as appetizers. I really dont like grape jelly and I love these. Cant wait to try it with pork, I never had before
