What could I use instead of peanut butter chips?
This recipe is absolutely delicious with the peanut butter chips, especially if you are a chocolate and peanut butter lover.
However, you could easily take them out and replace them if you have allergies, or would prefer something different.
Here are a few substitutes we recommend using if you choose to not use the peanut butter chips:
- Andes Mints (chopped up into small bits)
- Mini M&M’s (or regular sized M&M’s)
- Milk Chocolate Chips
- White Chocolate Chips (we also like to combine the two chocolate chips and give them extra sweetness).
- Nuts (I love these with pecans)
- Craisins
Or if you don’t have peanut butter chips on hand, but still want a peanut butter taste, here is what we recommend:
- Peanut Butter M&M’s (chopped into small bits)
- Reese’s Pieces
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (chopped into small bits)
- Melted Peanut Butter Drizzle on Top (I melt some peanut butter and drizzle it on the cookies after they are baked and cooled. Absolutely delicious.)

these look and sound delicious!!
We LOVE these cookies!
I made these exact to the recipe, yummy but mine would have been better with extra flour, baked at 375 degrees, and baked a little longer. The first batch in the oven was tasty but really flat and undercooked (I don’t mind them undercooked, but I was sad they were so flat). I couldn’t add more flour but increasing the temp and baking time helped a lot on the second batch. I’ll make them again with those tweaks, my kids were delighted!
I made these cookies but used chopped-up peanut butter m&m’s instead of peanut butter chips (peanut butter, not peanut). They were fantastic!! Perfect fix for a chocoalte- peanut butter addict, and the dough tastes wonderful too. Definitely making these again 🙂
Fast and easy! Great recipe – exactly as promised. It’s going to be tough not eating them all on my own 🙂
I love this recipe! I use the chocolate cookie recipe, but instead of peanut butter chips I use Andes Candies mint pieces. I like peanut butter and chocolate together, but I LOVE mint and chocolate ?. Either way they’re great!
How many does it make?
