I’m not sure why I love egg nog so much, but I really look forward to it all year long.
Maybe it’s because they make you wait all year to have it.
The other day I went to a potluck Christmas party, and my friend brought these truffles.
They are like big, tasty glass of eggnog with every bite. I begged her for the recipe, and she finally let me have it – and she told me I could share it with you.
Trust me when I say, I can’t make homemade candy for the life of me, because I really can’t.
However, with this recipe, I feel like I could make chocolates for a living because they always turn out perfect.

The trick to dipping chocolates and truffles
Dipping chocolates has always been a struggle for me. I feel like I always mess them up, or can’t get the chocolate to look right.
However, we have figured out the best way to dip chocolate, or in this case, egg nog truffles.
All you need is a plastic four prong fork.
Simply break the two middle prongs, so you only have the outside prongs intact. Then place the egg nog truffle into the white chocolate (I just use my hands) roll it around and make sure it is fully coated.
Then, using the two prong fork, lift the egg nog truffle, out of the chocolate, and place it on foil, or prepared baking sheet or pan.
That’s all there is to it.
If it is showing any of the truffle insides, smooth the chocolate over it gently, by sliding the side of the fork prong along it.
Bam. Perfect truffles every time.
How should i store these truffles?
If you are making them in advance, we recommend placing them in an air tight container, and refrigerating them until serving them.
I prefer them cold, but they are also delicious at room temperature.
They also freeze very well.
Depending on how far in advance you are making them, pull them out of the freezer 24 hours in advance, and place them in the fridge to thaw.
If you take them out of the freezer, then put them on the counter, they will get wet, and lose their crisp chocolate texture.

Eggnog Truffles Recipe
Ingredients
- 16 ounces white chocolate, divided, 1 pound (I used bakers chocolate)
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon imitation rum extract
Instructions
- In a small bowl, cream together cream cheese, powdered sugar, nutmeg, and rum extract.
- In a microwave safe bowl, melt 1/2 lb (8 oz) of the white chocolate for 30 seconds. Remove from microwave, stir, and repeat in 30 second intervals until the chocolate is completely smooth.
- Add the chocolate mixture to the cream cheese mixture and beat until smooth.
- Refrigerate for about 2 hours or until chilled and slightly more firm.
- Melt the remaining chocolate.
- Remove the cream cheese and chocolate mixture from the fridge, and roll into one-inch balls. Roll each ball in the white chocolate, and place on a wax-paper lined cookie sheet.

Instead of rum extract can I use real rum????

We are having problems rolling ours into balls. Our eggnog mixture is very gooey and sticky. Any advice?
Tis the season for eggnog. So far, I’ve made eggnog muffins, eggnog cupcakes and eggnog cookies. Oh, yeah, and let’s not forget eggnog frosting! Now I can add eggnog truffles to my list! Thanks for sharing this recipe!
Do u have to use rum extract
It just add to the overall flavor, but they will be fine without it.
Yes try putting the mixture into the frig for 10-15mins than get it out and roll it into balls that should prevent the gooey problem. These were delicious and very tasty I love eggnog.
So have you doubled, tripled or quadrupled
the recipe? I’m looking for a recipe for a cookie exchange and will need to make more than 12 cookies.

I’m having difficulties rolling these into balls as well.
Very sticky. I’ve had them in the fridge for 4 or 5 hours now because I found 2 wasn’t enough and they’re still very sticky. I’m now trying to freeze the mixture to see if that helps but I think the measurements may need to be tweaked for next time.
Do these need to be stored in the fridge once they are done? I would like to gift them, but that can be a challenge for items that require refrigeration.
I would keep them in the fridge. But if you pull them out to deliver to neighbors or for a party, they should be fine at room temp for a few hours.
How can they be eggnog truffles without eggnog
It’s the nutmeg and other flavors that taste like egg nog in this recipe.
Too gooey & will not firm up!! What do I do??? Catering a party in two days for my boss!!! Help!
Add a little more powdered sugar if you are having a hard time rolling them into balls. Refrigerate them for storing and that will help them set up too. Hope it all comes together for you!!
