Key Ingredients:
Any type of apple will work for this recipe. Different apples will give a different flavor to the cobbler and a slightly different texture. Granny Smith apples will be more tart (and are popular in apple pies), while Fuji apples offer a sweet flavor and tend to be popular in a lot of apple tart recipes. You can also combine different types of apples, as well. In this recipe, we used Honeycrisp, which has a sweet yet tart flavor.
Brown sugar and cinnamon will give you a great flavor combination to go with the juicy apples, and the cornstarch will helps thicken up the sauce for the apples to give it an apple pie-like texture.
The flour mixture and butter make the best biscuit-like topping that is similar to an apple crisp, but with a fluffier texture that’s softer underneath and a crispier golden-brown on top.

How To Make Apple Cobbler:
- Peel the apples and slice them into thin pieces, and then set them aside.

Substitutions & Variations:
- Add in a little bit of clove or other favorite spices to the apples for another burst of flavor to mix into the tart apples.
- Make this recipe gluten-free by swapping out the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free alternative.
- Switch the whole milk for heavy cream to make a rich, coarse crumb.

Expert Tips
- Bump up the apple flavor by using apple juice instead of water; however, then you will want to use less sugar.
- Cobbler is best served with caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- If you want to prep the apples earlier in the day, soak the apples in water with some lemon juice to stop the oxidation process when preparing the easy recipe.
FAQ’s:
Pink Lady, Gala, or Golden Delicious are all great options for most apple desserts.
To get the best flavor and texture for the biscuit topping, use butter. It holds its shape better and will create a better crumb.
