If you’ve ever had a Cheeseburger Egg Roll from the Cheesecake Factory – or from adventureland in Magic Kingdom – these are for you. This cult-favorite appetizer has a crispy egg roll wrapped stuffed with seasoned ground beef, melted cheddar and a little bit of relish that tastes just like a juicy cheeseburger. Add the tangy, 3-ingredient dipping sauce and you’ve got a handheld favorite that will be gobbled up in a matter of minutes.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Tastes just like the restaurant version. It’s juicy, cheesy, and the perfect handheld appetizer.
- Air Fried instead of deep fried. The same crispy shell without your whole house smelling like fried oil.
- Simple ingredients. We keep this one so simple, even Ron Swanson would be proud.
- Ready in 30 minutes. If you’re short on time, no problem. These whip up quickly before your next watch party or tailgate.
Key Ingredients for Easy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls
For the Egg Rolls
- Ground beef: we like to use 85/15 or 90/10. Make sure you drain the grease so the insides of your egg roll aren’t too greasy.
- Ketchup and mustard: the classic cheeseburger condiments are added straight to the beef for flavor. You can skip the mustard if you’re not a fan.
- Dried minced onion: no chopping onions necessary for this recipe! The dried minced onion gives you all the flavor you need.
- Pickle relish: you can use sweet or dill relish, whatever you prefer with your cheeseburgers.
- Seasoned salt: similar to our smashburgers, this is one of the only seasonings you’ll need.
- Shredded cheddar cheese: it wouldn’t be a cheeseburger without cheese and adding in mild (or sharp) shredded cheddar cheese is the way to go.
- Egg roll wrappers: You’ll find these in the refrigerator section of your local grocery store. I’ve found them next to the salad kits or bagged produce section.
For the 3-ingredient Sauce
We keep this sauce simple with mayonnaise, ketchup, and pickle relish (kind of like a Utah Fry Sauce if you know what we’re talking about). You could also add a dash of Worcestershire sauce like our Secret Cheeseburger Sauce.

How to Make Cheeseburger Egg Rolls
- Make the filling: In a large skillet, brown hamburger until no longer pink. Drain grease, then add ketchup, mustard, onion, pickle relish, and seasoned salt. Cook for an additional minute or two until everything is combined. Remove from heat and mix in shredded cheese, then set aside and let it cool.
- Assemble the Rolls: Place about ¼ cup of meat mixture in the center of each egg roll wrapper. Fold the side corners in, then brush some water (you can use your finger or a brush) on the remaining edges of the wrapper and roll up. Place the egg rolls seam side down on a plate or baking sheet. Brush the egg roll with olive oil, then set aside until you’re ready to cook.
- Cook. Cook in the air fryer, oven or stovetop (see instructions in recipe card).
- Make the Sauce. While the egg rolls are frying, make the sauce by mixing together all the ingredients. Serve the egg rolls warm with the sauce.

Variations and Add-Ins
- Bacon cheeseburger: add in crumbled bacon bits with the cheese
- Spice it up: add diced jalapenos or green chilies for a bit of heat. You could even add a dash of sriracha to the dipping sauce.
- Swap the cheese: swap out the cheddar for pepper jack, colby jack, or American.
Make-Ahead, Storage and Reheating
You can make these cheeseburger egg rolls up to a day before you need them. Assemble the egg rolls up to the step before cooking, then store them in the fridge until you’re ready to cook. Make sure they’re covered tightly or the egg wrappers will dry out.
Store leftover cooked egg rolls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat in the air fryer at 350℉ for 3-4 minutes for the most crisp results. You can also heat them up in the microwave, but it will soften the wrapper considerably.

Yes. You can flash freeze the uncooked, assembled egg rolls in a single layer until solid, then move them to a freezer bag or freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. You can air fry them straight from frozen (just add a few minutes to the cook time).
We love our simple sauce with mayo, ketchup and relish (it’s the closest to the Cheesecake Factory), but you can also serve them with ranch or creamy bbq sauce.
You bet! See the baking instructions listed in the recipe card below.
If you’re using an air fryer, this can happen when your air fryer basket is overcrowded or if you skip the brushed olive oil.
Swap out the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version (just like you can with a regular burger).
