Fantastic recipe as usual, sounds delicious and easy!
Happy Blogging!
Happy Valley Chow
Can the chicken be frozen when going in?
Yes, but just make sure it is cooked all the way through at the end of the cooking time. May need just a little bit longer.
This looks really yummy, we will try this one for sure. Thanks for sharing!
Looks excellent! I’m trying to avoid pasta and other starchy foods–do you think it would work as well served over brocolli or cauliflower? I don’t see any reason it wouldn’t. Thanks for sharing! http://makeyourhairgrowfaster.net/
It would be delicious over broccoli or cauliflower!
I think you’re right–I might have to try this out on Sunday! Of course, I just visiting the stuffing post, so I’ve got some hard decisions to make for the weekend 😀
Could you bake this in the oven? If so, how long would I bake it for bone in chicken thighs?
I make this the night before last. My husband really liked it, however the next day this dish was so much better! The cream was thicker…and much more flavor. I need to make this a must in our dinner choices. I would not change a thing.
Thank you so much
Birdie
I made this last week, and my husband just went gaga over it! Great recipe, I definitely will be making this again!
for bone in thighs in oven I bake for 50 mins @ 350
Any suggestions on a dry ranch dressing mix substitute?
We have only made this recipe as directed. Sorry not sure what you could use as a substitute.
Loved this! Not only did my picky 3 year old eat it and like it she asked for leftovers the next day. I used the dry ranch dip mix though; I did not add the additional seasonings (forgot) it was super tasty and it will be added to the favorites at our house.
I want to try this chicken recipe but I only have ranch dressing in a bottle. Would I dare use a dab of that in place of the ranch mix? How about cream of mushroom soup in place of the cream of chicken? Everyone loves mushrooms with their chicken. With the mushroom soup at least there is the taste of mushrooms. Thank you so much. I’m honestly not trying to ruin this wonderful recipe.
The taste may be altered just a little from the original recipe just because cream of chicken and cream of mushroom have a totally different taste. But they both go well with chicken. You should be fine with your ranch change. Let us know how it all turns out! 🙂
This looks yummy! Can I use boneless skinless thighs in lieu of chicken breasts???
Thighs will work fine. They are a little smaller so watch it closely because it will not take as long to cook.
Yum!! I made this tonight using chicken thighs and chive cream cheese! I put it over mashed potatoes and it was AMAZING!! My fiancé absolutely loved it and he usually doesn’t like my chicken dishes. Seriously. I am positive that I will be making this again. YUM!!
Do you have to the cream cheese?
Hi Tara, We have only made this as the recipe directs. Cream cheese makes it thick and creamy. I read where one viewer used chive cream cheese and said it was delicious. I’m not sure what would happen if you left it out completely. Best of luck to you!
Cyd – (mom of the six sisters)
I made this for dinner last night and my incredibly picky 2 year old ate it! I didn’t add the cream cheese but the sauce was just great! I also didn’t have paprika or oregano so I just added Italian Seasoning and it smelled and tasted so delicious! I didn’t have any leftovers. And again…my 2 year old actually ate the chicken and noodles. I was in shock and kept hitting my husband on the arm to get him to look every time she took a bite. ha ha. This is definitely a keeper!
I made this for dinner tonight and my husband and I both really enjoyed it. The chicken itself is tender and flavorful enough at the end of slow cooking it that someone who doesn’t want to add the cream cheese to make the creamy sauce could probably just eat the chicken like that with some veggies. However, we did make the creamy sauce and served it over the chicken with some pasta mixed with peas and it was delicious. We will definitely be making it again soon, maybe with the chive cream cheese suggestion next time. Thank you for this recipe! 🙂
I am wondering on your crockpot chicken recipes, does the chicken need to be thawed or can it be frozen? Also what would be a good way for me to make some of your recipes smaller. A lot of them call for three or four chicken breasts and there is only me, my husband (who doesn’t eat a lot of chicken) and my two year old daughter in my family.
Hi Krystal. We have tried some of our recipes with frozen and thawed chicken breasts. We usually specify in the directions when we use frozen. There is always a lot of controversy over how safe it is to put frozen chicken breasts in a slow cooker. When we have tried it we have not had any problems. Frozen chicken may take a little longer to cook. With this particular recipe we used thawed chicken breasts. Hope this helps a little. As far as adapting it for a smaller family, you could just cut the recipe in half. Just watch closely because the cooking time may not take as long.
Can you freeze this meal after preparing it and cook it later?
It should work great as a freezer meal!
Seriously this was the BEST ranch chicken slow cooker meal I’ve EVER made. Thanks so much
Yum! I added a couple of splashes of white wine. Did I say yum?!
This sounds great, except …it totally needs bacon 🙂 🙂
I bet this would be fantastic over zoodles too!
I made this last night for the first time and the whole family loved it which is hard to pull off! It was delicious! I chose to use onion and chive cream cheese and it was very good but I’m sure it’d be just as good with plain cream cheese. Thanks for a great recipe! ??
I have this in my crock pot right now. I can’t wait to try it. So easy an cheap to make.
I made this tonight and I’m not sure what happened. This seems pretty fool-proof, and no one mentioned this in the comments. But my cream cheese did NOT melt, or blend into the sauce at all. It left a ton of chunks of cream cheese that just looks awful. It’s not a creamy consistency, and I tried to break up the chunks to ‘blend’ in. I let it sit for about 30 extra minutes on hot in the crockpot to melt it, and it just stayed chunky. 🙁
I always melt the cream cheese before adding it to the recipe so the food stays hot and the cream cheese blends easier.
How much egg noodles would you use for this recipe or do you just cook a full bag?
8 ounces of egg noodles will be enough for the 4 servings of chicken for this recipe.
Just curious. Did you use fat free cream cheese? If so, that might be the problem.
Hi! This has been a favorite for our family. Any recommendations for cool time in the instapot?
I made this yesterday for my teenage daughters before my husband and I went to the SF 49er game. I cooked up some thin spaghetti noodles (I didn’t have egg noodles) to go with it. Both girls texted me separately to tell me that dinner was sooooo good! This recipe will definitely go in the “make again” group.
One of our favorites. Every one that eats it loves it. So yummy and easy!
Looking to adapt this to instant pot? Suggestions?
there’s a recipe online for homemade ranch dressing mix
Is the nutritional information for one serving or for the whole recipe? Thank you!
