Sounds delicious! Do you think greek yogurt could be substituted for the mayo?
I sub greek yogurt for everything!!! But when I sub Mayo out for it I find that it is missing a salt component and richness. I’s try it but if it tastes off that’s why. I also like to do half the mayo and half greek that way there is less.
I would do 1/2 the mayo and 1/2 greek yogurt. I sub greek yogurt for everything but I find when I do it with Mayo I am missing flavor and a salt component. May be ok with the bacon though.
Favorite dip ever!! My sister and I make this for every holiday and gathering and people die over it!!! It’s delicious!!
looks delish!
Thank you so much, Stephanie!! Your photo looks gorgeous and your kind words were so heart-warming!!
Not sure how greek yogurt will hold up in the oven. We have actually only made this recipe as directed. Sorry not much help. This dip is sooooo delicious though!
I made this yesterday and it was soo good!! None left! The only change I made was the crackers on top. A few of my guests were gluten intolerant so I substituted some crushed cornflakes for the Ritz crackers and I don’t think you could tell the difference. I will certainly be making this again and again. It was soo easy to put together. I made it all ahead of time and then added the cornflakes just before I put it in the oven.
Hi there. Would like to make this for our family Christmas were we make dips and appetizers to snack on. Is it ok to make this in a crock pot and if so what changes would I make, and what settings and how long. And would it just as good doubling the recipe. Thanks
Approximately how many pieces of bacon do you use?
The recipe calls for 1/2 pound of bacon. Bacon comes in 16 ounce packages. So half of the package would be around 10 slices.
Not sure how this would do in a crock pot if it was to keep on cooking. It might work if you had a “keep warm” setting. Just watch it closely.
Greetings,
Wondering this can be prepared and frozen, defrosted and then baked?
Luv your stuff otherwise:)
Hi Kathy. We have never made this ahead of time to freeze and bake later. So not sure how it would all turn out. The good part is that is only takes about 10 minutes to throw together. It is one of our favorite party dips during the Holidays.
I love making this recipe every year! This year I made it for a pot luck at work. It was a huge hit!
I have made this recipe many times and shared your recipe many times, It has become a joke with our friends because one of my friends suggested we change the name to Black tar/heroin dip. It is so good and once you start eating it you can’t stop. We love your recipe and fix it often Thank you for sharing
