Some weeks we have so many bananas left over and I never know what to do with them. I usually end up throwing them out.

But this week I was craving banana bread and I saw these brownies and was so excited to try them. If you love banana bread, you are going to LOVE these.

They are so easy to make and full of rich banana and chocolate flavor. They came together quickly and had the most amazing reviews from friends and family.

To all banana bread lovers out there, I think I just found your new favorite recipe. You will love this one.

What bananas work best for this recipe?

For this recipe, you will want to be selective with your bananas. For these brownies, you want your bananas to be extremely ripe. If they are still yellow, or have green on them, this recipe won’t work.

Your brownies will be rubbery, and not soft. For the best results, use brown bananas that are extremely soft and ripe.

I usually make these brownies when my bananas are completely brown, with just a little bit of yellow on them.

They will also be sweeter brownies, the more ripe your bananas get.

what is the best way to store these?

I love this recipe, and my family does as well, that we usually don’t have many leftover. However, if you do have some leftover, the best way to store them is putting them in the fridge.

We recommend placing them in an air tight storage container, and putting them in the fridge.

If you aren’t going to eat them for more than a week, we recommend freezing them. Again the best way to freeze them is placing them in an airtight storage container and putting them in the freezer.

They will last nicely in the freezer for about 2 weeks, and in the fridge, about 3-5 days.

To thaw them, we recommend placing them in the fridge overnight and serving them the next day. You could also give them a little heat in the microwave, to make them taste like they just came out of the oven.

  1. I made this last night and it was just awful..Followed the recipe to the tee and I also have to agree with Rhonda, It was very rubbery not even close to a brownie, cake or even a banana bread. And the taste was very bland. Hate wasting good food but this one went into the garbage, But if ya don't try something new you would be stuck making the same old stuff. Love the picture though!
  2. I had planned on making these, then got worried after reading some bad reviews. But, I've yet to meet a Six Sister recipe I didn't like, so onward I went with my baking. I am glad I did; they were delish. They were definitely dense, as warned. I wouldn't call them "rubbery", however. 1-1/2 c. banana was four bananas for me, not three. If someone were to just use three without measuring, (all depends on the size of the banana too) that could change the amount of banana flavor that is present. Now here is where I changed it up a bit: I used, instead of milk chocolate chips, some semi-sweet (it was what I had) and some...wait for it...peanut butter chips!! Who doesn't love peanut butter and bananas?! I definitely recommend trying that! I will make again sometime. Now, off to make the chocolate mint brownies! :-)
  3. Delicious! The aroma permeating from my kitchen yesterday morning drew everyone into the kitchen for a family breakfast. It is the perfect amount of sweetness, chocolate, and bananas. Love your site! I posted a link to the recipe on my blog:
