I found this 5 Minute Creamy Key Lime Pie Recipe on the back of a pre-made graham cracker crust package. Who would have thought that there could be such great recipes there? This creamy pie seriously only takes 5 minutes to throw together (time yourself, I dare you.) and tastes amazing.

Recipe Ingredient Notes

To make our creamy key lime pie, you will need the following ingredients:

Water
Sugar free lime jello, 1 package
Key lime pie yogurt
Cool Whip, thawed
Pre-made graham cracker crust

For this recipe, you only need a few simple kitchen tools. We recommend using the following equipment:

How to Make Creamy Key Lime Pie

In a microwave-safe measuring cup, heat water for 45-90 seconds or until boiling. Whisk in Jell-o until dissolved.
In a large bowl, whisk together Jell-o mixture and yogurt. Fold in whipped topping. Carefully spread in crust. Refrigerate at least 4 hours or until set.
Garnish as desired. Store in refrigerator.

Storage Instructions

This pie will last nicely in the fridge for about 4-5 days. After that, it will begin to get a little soggy. We also recommend covering it with a lid, or aluminum foil to better preserve it.

Make your own Whipped Cream

This recipe tastes absolutely amazing with store bought whipped cream, however, it is ten times better when you make your own. It’s also incredibly easy to make your own. It only requires 2 simple ingredients, you may already have on hand.

In a chilled metal bowl (it doesn’t necessarily have to be metal, but I feel like it keeps it a little cooler) combine 2 cups of heavy whipping cream and two tablespoons of sugar.
Using an electric mixer, (I used a hand mixer) combine the ingredients until fully incorporated, and the whipped topping forms peaks.
Store in fridge until ready to use.

Notes

I have never made this recipe using any other kind of Jell-o except for sugar free. I am not sure if it would work with regular Jell-o because the size of the packages are so much different.

I’ve never made a pie like this before, so question: do you have to use a non-dairy whipped topping or would real whipped topping work as well?

Hi Carey! I have only made this using non-dairy whipped topping. I am not sure that real whipped topping would produce the same texture, but I think that it might work! Let us know if you try it!

Is it a fourth of the package of Jell-O? or a fourth of a pint of water, a fourth of a quart? a fourth of what? I’ve made this recipe a lot using all different flavors. Its fun to match up yogurt and jello flavors lol. Also someone wondered about using regular jello instead of sugar free…When using regular jello I increase the water to just barely a 1/2 cup of water to dissolve the jello . Right now I have a raspberry yogurt, cranberry jello flavor combo chilling in the fridge.

I have been making this pie for many years. I DO NOT use Jello. All I use is 2 – 6oz containers of yogurt and 8oz of cool whip. FOLD the two together, put in the prepared pie crust. DONE! The nice thing about this pie you can make any flavor you like as long as they make yogurt in that flavor. We love Strawberry!

I bet you could use Knox gelatin as a stabilizer in whipping cream and substitute it for the cool whip. Google stabilizing cream as i’m not sure on the radio.

I have made this with regular jello, no water, just mix the dry powder really well into the other ingredients. It just needs to set a few hours in the fridge to letter flavors meld 🙂

We have found that Cool Whip brand is thicker than store brand, and don’t get low fat or sugar free whipped topping. Sugar free jello works best. If you have done those things, you could reduce the water a bit to thicken up. You could also place in freezer right before serving to thicken up. You could also use a lime flavored Greek Yogurt. It’s a thicker yogurt than regular yogurt. Hopefully these options will help.
