There is just something about any red velvet dessert that tempts me! I love how rich and chocolatey red velvet is. This is my favorite red velvet recipe and it goes perfectly with cream cheese buttercream!

Ingredients
- Cake:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup plain greek yogurt (could be substituted for sour cream)
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 (1 ounce) bottle red food coloring
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- Frosting:
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 Tablespoons sour cream
- 6 cups powdered sugar
- Optional:
- 1 Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Spray 2 (9-inch) round cake pans with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time.
- Stir in greek yogurt (or sour cream), buttermilk and food coloring until combined.
- Mix in salt, baking soda, cocoa powder and flour until combined.
- Pour batter into cake pans and bake for 35-40 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat together cream cheese, butter, sour cream and vanilla until fluffy.
- Beat in powdered sugar until smooth.
- Frost cake as desired.
- Use a vegetable peeler and a chocolate candy bar to create chocolate curls for garnish.
