Cocoa Banana Bars Recipe

These Cocoa Banana Bars are one of our favorite ways to put those ripe bananas to use. This is a simple, delicious and healthy recipe, we are sure you will love.

I am always looking for new recipes using bananas because despite my healthy eating intentions, I never seem to eat my bananas before they turn brown.
Every week I buy them, thinking, “This is the week I eat bananas and put them in smoothies” then every week, I end up tossing them.
I decided I needed to start finding ways to put them to use, and I did. These Cocoa Banana Bars are healthy, simple, delicious, and full of chocolatey banana flavor.
These were a delicious treat with just the right hint of banana {and without tons of sugar and butter}.

what is the best way to store these?

I love this recipe, and my family does as well, that we usually don’t have many leftover. However, if you do have some leftover, the best way to store them is putting them in the fridge.

We recommend placing them in an air tight storage container, and putting them in the fridge.

If you aren’t going to eat them for more than a week, we recommend freezing them. Again the best way to freeze them is placing them in an airtight storage container and putting them in the freezer.

They will last nicely in the freezer for about 2 weeks, and in the fridge, about 3-5 days.

To thaw them, we recommend placing them in the fridge overnight and serving them the next day. We also recommend giving them a few seconds in the microwave to warm up, so they taste like they came right out of the oven.

Mmm mmm delicious.

banana bread add ins:

This bread is delicious as is. However I like to add a little extra kick of sweetness and flavor to it. Especially since these are pretty healthy, I like to even my diet out with a little sugar.

Here are some add ins, we recommend:

  • M & M’s
  • Peanut Butter Chips
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Walnuts or pecans
  • Cream cheese swirls
  • Nutella
  • Butterscotch Chips

  1. I made this today! I had exactly three bananas left that no one was about to eat. Perfect recipe! It was very easy to put together. The only thing I did different from the recipe was add vanilla and almond extract along with some slivered almonds. Tasty!
