This Parmesan Crusted Tilapia is coated in a thin breading that turns golden as it bakes and is a relatively healthy main dish. Ready in less than 30 minutes, this dinner doesn’t taste “fishy” at all, and it’s a great way to introduce fish into little one’s diets. I always have a bag of frozen tilapia in my freezer, and whenever I’m in a bind I just throw this together real quick.

How to Make Our Parmesan Crusted Tilapia

- Place a fillet on the plate in the lemon juice and sprinkle with desired amount of salt and black pepper. Turn the fillet over in the lemon juice and sprinkle on the other side.
- Place the fillet in the Parmesan mixture, patting it all over to coat.
- Put the covered fillets in a foiled lined pan, then spray the pan with nonstick cooking spray.
- Sprinkle a little lemon juice over the fillets, and drizzle or spray them lightly with olive oil.
- Bake at 425℉ for about 20 minutes or until they easily flake with a fork and edges are browning.
- Sprinkle additional Parmesan cheese on top if desired.
Recipe Notes
Tilapia is loaded with vitamins and minerals, including B12, niacin, and potassium. It’s also a great source of lean protein. It is relatively inexpensive, and can be found pretty much all over the world. Some people have reservations about the amount of Omega-6 fatty acids, so it’s recommended you don’t eat it in excess, but it is still considered a healthier protein option.
You can definitely use another type of fish in place of tilapia. We would recommend substituting another fish that isn’t too “fishy” in flavor, like haddock, flounder, or catfish.

How can I make this recipe gluten free. What could I use instead of the ritz ?
Lovely recipe. Thank you.
This sounds so good,Definitely will put this on our menu for after vacation!!!
I am gluten-intolerant as well, and I make almost the same recipe, except I use cornflake crumbs (which you can buy at Walmart in the baking isle). They work perfect!!! Check out my gluten-free blog here: http://karissawagner.blogspot.com/ for lots of gluten-free recipes, tips and ideas!!!
You could use corn flakes.
This looks delicious! They have a similar dish at the Olive Garden. I will be trying this tonight! I just found your blog! This is so great. The fashion and art in here is bold and fun!
Can you use panko crumbs and haddock?
Sounds delicious! 🙂
I realized right when I was making it that I didn’t have any lemon juice. I used mayo instead and used a pastry brush to spread on the fillets. Wow, so yummy!
I love your recipes, but wish there were nutrition facts. Am I missing them somewhere?
I made this gluten free using Lance brand “Baked Original Crackers” —- they are a pretty close substitute for ritz at my local grocery chain and a great alternative to the GF panko
Great tip!
Can you use breadcrumbs instead of ritz?
The flavor will be a little different but breadcrumbs should work as a substitute
