Camille gave me this recipe after I was first married. She combined Mom’s sugar cookie recipe with her in-laws recipe and came up with this! It is so good and they are my favorite because they are so soft and aren’t dry at all!

I don’t think these cookies had enough sugar in them.. the flavor was a little bland.. and the cookies were more like cake. I won’t be making these again.
Best cookies ever! I usually have trouble making cut out cookies
these turned out beautiful especially with cookie frosting
this recipe is a keeper!
I don’t really like them sorry
Everyone has a different idea of what the “perfect” sugar cookie is. Honestly this recipe is what I call a great “base” recipe. Meaning that it’s a good base and depending on my personal tastes I can add or take away from this recipe and it will still work out.
For one person these weren’t sweet enough…so add some sugar. For me I prefer things not to be overly sweet and if the cookie had a more sugar in it and then I added frosting it would be too sweet for me. If it’s a little bland try adding lemon zest or any other citrus zest, and spices like nutmeg, cinnamon etc.
I baked one pan as directed and then added lemon zest to the rest and it turned out great also. Here is an example of how flexible these can be… When I went to place my first pan in the oven my toddler decided to add my half cup of dusting flour into the dough. I was able to get some of the flour out but not all. I added a little milk a little more vanilla and decided since I was mixing again to add the lemon zest at that time. They still turned out great. The texture of these cookies is perfect for my tastes.
My only suggestion would be to re-format the recipe for example, place the ingredients in the order they are added to the mixer. This makes it a little easier in general and for those who don’t have much experience cooking as well. Also, while I know how to roll out and cut out sugar cookies not everyone does. Perhaps give an approximate thickness for how thick to roll out the dough. Last, perhaps give some optional additions to change up the recipe (lemon zest etc.)
I personally enjoyed this recipe and at this point it’s my new “go to” sugar cookie recipe. Thanks for sharing.
