The dog days of summer are dragging on . . . and my 36-week pregnant ankles (that look more like elephant legs) are proof. There is a local drive-thru restaurant called Sonic that has “Happy Hour” from 2-4 pm each day and all drinks are half-price. One of my favorite drinks is their Cherry Limeade. I have spent WAY more than I should on their yummy drinks, but on a hot summer day it just sounds so good!
I found this recipe to make your own Sonic Cherry Limeade at home and I have now made it many, many times. I just tell my husband, “Think of all the money I am saving since I just make it myself now!”
. . . as I whip up my 4th batch of the week. 🙂

SONIC'S COPYCAT CHERRY LIMEADE DRINK RECIPE
Now you can recreate this amazing, refreshing drink at home!
Serving people
Ingredients
- 1 can frozen limeade concentrate
- 2 liters lemon-lime soda
- Juice from 1 (10 oz) jar of maraschino cherries
- Fresh limes, sliced (optional)
- ice
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients together and serve immediately. You can also throw in some maraschino cherries if you would like. For a slushier drink, use limeade concentrate that is completely frozen (mine was partially thawed in the picture and that is why it isn't slushy).
- Add ice as wanted . . . mine melted very fast because it was so hot outside!

I wonder if I can break this down to single serving sizes. I’m the only one in my family that drinks cherry limeade. It’s my second choice to a lemonberry slush…yum!
Could you just use grenadine?
You could use it, but it would have a completely different taste.
I worked at Sonic, all it is Sprite and cherry juice. Limes and cherries also.
Just sprite and cherry juice.
I have tried many different cherry limeade recipes to feed my husband’s addiction to it and this one is the big winner!

I work at sonic. It’s just an ounce of cherry juice and an ounce of lime juice for every 6 ounces of sprite. Or just add the juices to suit your taste.
sonic has the best cherrylimeade if you don’t like their limeade the Houston we have a problem

I mixed this recipe up and added all the cherries in the blender. Then I put it in my ice cream maker and froze it. It turned out so yummy.
Play with it 🤔! You will never, ever, ever, never get the same tasting slush from either Sonic’s you go to. Soooo, this is why I looked for how Sonic’s do theirs. So, my blender is about to get a beat down. Enjoy!!!
