I love using my Instant Pot for so many things – including Instant Pot recipes for strawberry jam. My kids love to have this fresh jam spread on their toast in the morning or for their peanut butter and jam sandwiches. Most of the time I even double the recipe because we go through it so fast.
This recipe is SO easy and so fast. The strawberries cook for literally one minute, and if you include the time needed to pressurize and depressurize the pot, you’re still looking at under 30 minutes of work for homemade jam! 30 minutes? YES PLEASE! You’ll love how simple the ingredient list is. This strawberry jam is made with strawberries, fresh orange juice, and a bit of sugar. It is perfect for a gift for neighbors or just to share with your family!
Recipe Ingredient Notes
To make our strawberry jam in the Instant Pot, you only need these three ingredients:
- 1 pound fresh strawberries
- 2 Tablespoons sugar
- 1 orange
Equipment Needed
For this recipe, you only need a few simple kitchen tools. We recommend using the following equipment:

How to Make Strawberry Jam
- Rinse your strawberries and remove the greens. Slice the strawberries in pieces and place them in the bottom of the pot.
- Sprinkle the sugar over the top of the halved strawberries and allow them to sit for 10 minutes or so. The sugar will release the juices from the strawberries, which is necessary for the Instant Pot method to work. (so don’t stress if you think these won’t be enough liquid!)
- Use a reamer or juicer to juice the orange, then pour 1 ounce of the fresh orange juice over the strawberries and sugar.
- Lock the lid of your Instant Pot, then select the “Manual” option. Cook on high pressure for 1 minute, then wait 15 minutes after the cooking is done for the pressure to release naturally.
- The strawberries will have cooked down into a thicker type sauce.
- Crush the strawberries with potato smasher or blend them in a blender.
- Store in an airtight container in your refrigerator, and spread it on your sandwich, or just eat it off the spoon!
Recipe Notes
- This recipe made about 10 ounces of jam – I put mine in 3, 4-ounce jars not quite filled to the top. Store them covered tightly in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
- This recipe is healthier than most jams! Most jams call for 1-2 cups of sugar per pound of strawberries! This is only 2 Tablespoons! I feel a lot better feeding my kids this because I know exactly what is in it!
- You can also blend up the strawberries with a hand or stand mixer as well.

How thick is this jam without the use of pectin?
Have you froze this before. If so are there changes to the recipe?
Can I use frozen peaches the same way?
Hi, can I use a slow cooker for this?
I have 2 questions. One is can I use artificial sweetener, & the other question is can you use the same recipe with different fruits?
Looks thin / watery, can it be thicken up a bit?
This jam will thicken up as it cools down. If you prefer thicker jam, you can add a little pit of pectin into the jam after it’s done cooking or even a little bit of cornstarch. This recipe made about 10 ounces of jam – I put mine in 3 4-ounce jars not quite filled to the top. The cooking time does not include the time that it takes to come to pressure and the natural release time. It should take about 30 minutes from start to finish.
We have not yet tried this jam with an artificial sweetener. I’m sure you could use other berries or peaches for this jam.
Not with this recipe.
Can you the ounce of orange juice instead an orange cause I don’t have an orange on hand….thank you
Sure, maybe like 3 Tablespoons.
Can you use another fruit, instead of an orange,my daughter is allergic to them
You could try lemon juice.
Do you know if you can double or triple the recipe.
Can I use a water bath to can this jam?
This jam can be placed in the fridge immediately after making, or even placed in the freezer as a freezer jam. No need for a water bath on this recipe.
Can I use frozen strawberries?
This is great! How long can it stay in the fridge?
It’s fine in the fridge for a few weeks. You can also freeze it in a freezer container.
Can u put this recipe in a water bath to can it for winter?
We haven’t ever tried that! If you do, let us know how it turns out!
