Wow these Cakes look great. I’m gonna try this recipe
Oops – I just drooled on my keyboard !
Are they more like a bar than cake, though ?
Reese’s cups is one of my favorite candy’s so this is a must try. I love that there is Butterfingers in it as well! Double win 🙂
Help! I’m in the middle of making this cake. So I mixed the cake mix, 1 egg and 1/2 cup melted butter but the batter is dry and thick. Was I supposed to follow directions on cake box in addition to adding the egg and butter? If not it doesn’t seem like it would mix very well….plz help ?
Hi Desiree. Mix the brownie mix, egg and melted butter together. Do not make as directed on cake box. I’m not sure what could have gone wrong. Was your cake mix 15.25 ounces? Our dough was thick but not dry.
It is more like a bar, but with a cake mix bottom!
I made this for my son’s birthday (he’s 32) and everyone loved it. I do want to point out that the vanilla extract is not in the directions. I added it with the cream cheese peanut butter mixture. I hope that’s where it goes. 🙂
Sorry about that Nancy. We adjusted the recipe on the blog! Thanks for letting us know and we are glad that it all turned out for your sons 32nd birthday!!
I just made this – it’s delicious! Question-does it have to be refrigerated?
Hi Stacy, this cake is fine to be left out for a few hours during dinner or a party. But I would refrigerate any leftovers. Cover with plastic wrap or foil or a pan with a cover.
Question…I made this – baked it the full 55 minutes but should it be a little gooey in the top layer? Or is this one you should do the toothpick test on & bake longer if needed? Granted I couldn’t wait for it to fully cool & still very warm LOL. Maybe I should’ve waited longer?
It should be set up pretty good after cooking. It will set up a little when cooling. You could always bake just a few minutes longer if needed when the middle doesn’t seem quite as done. I hope this helps. It is such a delicious cake.
