- Extract: use the same vanilla extract as you did before
- Flour: all-purpose flour will work best for this easy banana bread recipe
How to make Cream Cheese Banana Bread:
- Prep. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a loaf pan liberally with baking spray.
- Combine the dry ingredients. In a large bowl whisk and combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt and set aside.
- Cream. Beat the butter and sugar together on high speed until fluffy and significantly lightened in color with either an electric mixer or stand mixer.
- Combine the remaining wet ingredients. Mix the egg into the butter mixture followed by the Greek yogurt. Mix in the vanilla on medium speed.
- Put it all together. In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients (aka the flour mixture) into the wet ingredients followed by the mashed banana.
- Make the cream cheese layer. Beat the cream cheese and sour cream together on high speed until smooth. Mix in the egg, sugar, vanilla, and flour.
- Assemble. Pour half of the bread batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth it out. Pour the layer of cream cheese on top and smooth it out. Do not mix the layers together. Pour the second half of the banana bread batter over the cream cheese layer and smooth it out. Do not mix the layers together.
- Bake. Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the banana bread comes out mostly clean.

Easy recipe , I didn’t have yogurt so I substituted with sour cream . It came out fine !! Delicious . Only baked it 50 minutes and it was done !
How long do you let it cool in the pan before trying to take it out?
We recommend let banana bread cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely. This allows the bread to set and makes it easier to remove from the pan without sticking or breaking.

Can you use self rising flour? If so, do I reduce or remove the leveners?
We haven’t tried using self rising flour with this recipe, but yes wen using self-rising flour as a substitute, you should remove any baking powder or baking soda listed in the original recipe.
