One of my favorite products from Lucky Leaf is their pie filling. It tastes like no other pie filling I’ve ever tried. It is delicious!
My husband LOVES breakfast food so I decided to try a recipe that includes both pie filling and breakfast. I came up with Apple Pie German pancakes and they taste amazing!

Have not tried this yet, but love your Blog and website. My question here is that in the long version of the recipe there is no mention of a fresh sliced apple but in the shortened version, it is listed as an ingredient. Is it for garnish or am I supposed to put it in with the apple pie filling when I bake this or what? Am I only using half of the Lucky Leaf Filling or the whole can?

This recipe was a little confusing . 1 spot says use 1/2 cup pie filling & the next place says something about an Apple. I used a whole can of Lucky Leaf Apple pie filling . I added 1/8th tsp baking powder & 1/4th tsp vanilla. It was very good and easy to make. My husband said a nice surprise for Breakfast.

I love German Pancakes and using the pie filling sound so delicious!

I found that the 4 eggs was a little much...to me, there was too much of an egg taste. It didn't have a pancake taste, more of a sweet egg bread taste. If you use half a cup of apple pie filling it would be somewhat dry...I used the whole can of pie filling and cut up the apple slices. With some minor adjustments this recipe will be really good... I found that the Apple flavored pancake syrup compliments this dish quite well.

I this last night, and it was awful.I followed the recipe exactly, using all purpose flour, but I am pretty sure baking powder should have been included.....the "pancake" was very, very heavy and stodgy.Next time,I'll be using my own fail safe fluffy pancake recipie which only has ONE egg. Can't believe I wasted 4 of my free range organic eggs on this-so disappointed :(

For the comment made about this recipe needing baking powder, I checked my Dutch Baby pancake pan recipe and there is NO leavening whatsoever in a German baked pancake recipe. Can’t wait to try this recipe this weekend with my home canned pie filling. Love your website,it is my go to when I am looking for something special to make.
