Our family is obsessed with these Little Barbecue Smokies. They are a family tradition this time of year. They are so easy to make and taste amazing.
The perfect holiday appetizer or tailgate food. This recipe also makes quite a bit, so we make it when we know the whole family will be around.
Could I make these without pineapple?
You could most definitely make this recipe without using pineapple. We prefer the sweet Hawaiian taste that the pineapple gives, but they could be easily taken out.
If you are looking for another flavor to add, you could easily use teriyaki sauce combined with bbq sauce.
You could also add bacon to add a little extra flavor. I would pre cook the bacon, and add it to the slow cooker, 20 to 30 minutes before serving.
How would I make these without a slow cooker?
We prefer using a slow cooker with this recipe, because it is easy to just throw in all the ingredients, and they come together in about 2 hours.
I love making this because I can throw it together right before guests come over, and in an hour or so, when we are ready to eat, and the little smokies are ready to go.
However, if you are looking to make these a little quicker, you could also make these over the stove top, or even microwave. For the best taste, we recommend using stove top or slow cooker.
Heat the stove top to medium heat. Add all the ingredients, and mix until well combined.
Cook until it is fully heated through.
You don’t want it to boil, or else it will burn the sauce. Simply heat it through. You may have to taste test, to make sure it it heated through.
You will also want to continually stir it. If you don’t, it will heat up in other areas, while some areas may still be cool.
