I know this is weird, but I absolutely hate apples! It isn’t the taste as much as it is the texture. Even hearing someone else eat an apple gives me chills like nails on a chalkboard! However, I do love apple pie filling. When I came across Duncan Hines’ Caramel Apple Pie Filling, I knew I had to give it a whirl!

this looks yummy…can this be frozen
These look good. Thank you.
We have never frozen these, but we can’t see why it wouldn’t work.
Do you think I could chop up apples into tiny little bites and cook it inside? I think it would be a nice touch. 🙂
Just so they cook through enough for you without the crescent roll getting burned. Fresh apples sound delicious! Let us know how it turns out. 🙂
Made these and it came out so good. Tasted like a sweet mini piece of apple pie. Just I wasn’t sure how long they keep if left inside a air tight container?
Should be fine for about 4 to 5 days.
I can’t find Duncan Hines Caramel Apple Pie Filling. Could I substitute regular pie filling and caramel sundae sauce?
Hi Tara, that should work. Just don’t add too much that it turns runny. It is hard to find the caramel apple pie filling. I haven’t seen it in our stores yet this fall. Best of luck adapting your apple pie filling! Let us know how it all turns out. I’m sure others may have a hard time finding the caramel apple pie filling.
Thank you for commenting after making these. It is helpful to know what a person who has tried a recipe thinks of it.
Oh my gosh! This recipe has everything we love! I’m going to make these bites this week-end.
I made these tonight with a few, OK a lot, of twists. I found the amount of filling were way too much for the crescent rolls so I made them into little triangular pies, crescent on top and bottom. I also used 2 fresh honey crisp apples finely diced, and some carmel ice cream topping mixed in the apples. The cream cheese mix was the same. Baking time the same. Awesomeness!!
I changed the 1 teaspoon of vanilla too two teaspoons . 1 was not enough , as it made the cream mixture dry and flaky. Other than that smells and tastes great!
Made these this morning with minor adjustment to baking time for second batch; I extended the time to 19 minutes as the first batch was slightly doughy (re-baked for a few minutes to ‘fix’). Very sweet and should go well with some vanilla ice cream! My husband is a big dessert guy so I am always baking and looking for new recipes. This one was messy to make but definitely a keeper!
Parchment paper makes cleanup a lot easier, as the cinnamon-sugar will stick, especially if the rolls leak??
