Mix pork and beans, diced onion, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and mustard in slow cooker, and stir until combined.
Cover and cook on low for 3 hours.
Cook bacon and crumble on top of beans before serving.

For this recipe, we actually use a couple cans of pork and beans. Some recipes require that you use hard beans, soak them, then cook them for long periods of time.To save time, cook your bacon the night before and then just crumble it on top when you are ready to serve. You could also use pre-cooked bacon from the grocery store.Cooking beans in the slow cooker is a time saver. Prep earlier in the day, and it is ready to go when it's time to eat. We also love that the slow cooker does not heat up our entire house. They do not require us to stand over a hot stove top to prepare them.You can use the following add-ins: chopped green bell pepper, chopped red pepper, cooked ground beef or diced ham, diced hot dogs, or diced jalapeño peppers. You can also substitute the mustard for .5 teaspoon of ground mustard powder.
