The simplest french dip sandwich out there!
Prep Time6 minutes
Total Time5 minutes
Course: Main Course
Cuisine: American
Keyword: Freezer Meal, slow cooker
Servings: 6
Author: Steph Loaiza

Equipment

  • Gallon Sized Freezer Bag

Ingredients

  • 2-3 pound chuck roast (a rump roast will also work)
  • 2 cans beef consomme (find this right next to the soups and beef broth at the grocery store)
  • 6-8 hoagie buns

Instructions

  • Place roast in a resealable gallon-sized freezer bag and pour beef consomme on top.
  • When ready to eat, remove from freezer and thaw in fridge for 24 hours. Cook on LOW for 8-11 hours (or HIGH for 5-7 hours).
  • Remove roast from slow cooker and save extra juice for dipping!
  • With 2 forks, shred roast and serve meat on buns.
  • We also love to melt Provolone or Swiss cheese on top of the meat in the sandwich.

Notes

Serve with: Baked Potato Wedges and fresh fruit.
To make this in the Instant Pot from frozen, cook on Manual for 90 minutes with a natural release.
If you can't find Beef Consomme at the store, you can use 1 can of condensed French Onion soup and 1 can of beef broth as a substitute.
