When oil begins to sizzle, brown meat in batches until all meat is browned. Transfer Meat to plate once browned.
Add the garlic and saute one minute. Add soy sauce, 1/2 cup water, brown sugar, and ginger. Stir to combine.
Add browned beef, place lid on top of Instant Pot.
Press the MANUAL or PRESSURE COOK button.
Set timer for 11 minutes.
When cooking is finished, move the knob to VENTING and do a QUICK RELEASE of the pressure.
Combine the cornstarch and 3 tablespoons water, whisking until smooth. Add cornstarch mixture to the sauce in the pot, stirring constantly.
Push the Saute button and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until sauce thickens. Stir in green onions. Serve over rice.
Slow Cooker Instructions
Spray slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
Place cornstarch in a bowl. Coat each piece of steak in cornstarch and place in slow cooker. Discard any remaining cornstarch.
Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl and pour over beef.
Cook on high for 2-3 hours or low for 4-5 hours.
Serve over rice, topped with additional sliced green onions.
Notes
Slow cooker cooking times are the following: 15 minutes prep time, 4 hours cook time, and 4 hours and 15 minutes total cook time.You can store any leftover Mongolian Beef in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days
Be sure to slice your steak into strips before cooking instead of after. It’s easier before cooking and when done cooking there is no shredding needed. It’s ready to put over cooked rice.
We like cooking this on low setting for a tender beef. Low and slow is always the best options. But if your are short on time, the high setting works great too.
You can cook your rice in an instant pot for a quick and delicious tasting rice.
If you want a little heat you can add red pepper flakes to this easy recipe and top with sesame seeds.
