  • Large Skillet
  • Baking Sheet

Gravy Ingredients

  • 1 pound turkey sausage
  • 1 ½ cups Shirley J Whisk Bliss original
  • 6 cups water
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • salt and pepper to taste

Biscuit Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • cup milk
  • 1 egg

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble sausage and cook until browned. Drain drippings from pan. In a large bowl, mix together Whisk Bliss and water until smooth. Pour into the skillet with the sausage crumbles and stir. Add in seasoned salt. Bring gravy mixture to a boil and continue to cook over medium heat for 5-10 minutes or until gravy has thickened.
  • While waiting for the gravy to cook, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and cream of tartar in a bowl. Cut in the shortening (I just use a regular ol' butter knife to do this) until the mixture is crumbly. In a small bowl, mix together the egg and milk and add to the crumb mixture. Stir until the mixture is moist.
  • Drop heaping spoonfuls of the dough on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes (or until the biscuits are golden)
  • Serve biscuits with a large ladle full of gravy spooned on top.
