Fudge Topped Brownies Recipe

Ingredients

Brownies:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate chopped
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 large eggs
  • cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup walnuts chopped

Fudge Topping:

  • cups sugar
  • 12 ounces evaporated milk
  • ½ cup butter cubed
  • 12 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 11½ ounces milk chocolate chips
  • 7 ounces marshmallow creme
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups walnuts chopped

Instructions

  • In a heavy saucepan melt butter and chocolate; stir until smooth. Remove from the heat; blend in sugar and vanilla. Add eggs; mix well.
  • In another bowl combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the chocolate mixture to the flour mixture and mix well. Stir in walnuts.
  • Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch glass baking pan. Bake at 350° for 25-27 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched.
  • Cool for about 1 hour.
  • For the topping, combine the sugar, milk and butter in a large heavy saucepan; bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Remove from the heat. Stir in the chocolate chips, marshmallow creme and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add walnuts.
  • Spread over cooled brownies.
  • Refrigerate for about an hour.
  • Cut into small squares because they are quite rich.
  • Store in the refrigerator.
