Gooey Butter Cake Recipe
This Gooey Butter Cake has a chewy cake mix crust topped with a gooey cream cheese layer. This 5-ingredient St. Louis dessert is easy to make!

Ingredients
- 1 package yellow cake mix, (15.25 ounce)
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 3 eggs, divided
- 1 cream cheese, softened, 8 ounce package
- 4 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350℉. Spray a 9x13” baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, mix together dry cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg into a soft dough. Press it into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- In another bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, cream cheese, and remaining 2 eggs until smooth. Pour on top of crust and bake for 35 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
Notes
We use a 15.25 oz cake mix in this recipe. If you can only find a 13 oz size, you can buy a second box and measure out the weight (or it’s about a ½ cup of cake mix).
