While oven is warming, mix together the tomatoes, 1 1/2 cups bbq sauce, and onion powder. Set aside.
Cover a cookie sheet with foil and lightly spray with non stick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl combine the meat, egg, crushed crackers, cheese, and 1/2 cup of barbecue sauce. Mix together well.
Roll hamburger mixture into 1 inch balls and place on prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes or until cooked through.
While the meatballs are cooking, place the tomato/bbq sauce mixture in a saucepan and bring to a boil over med/low heat.
We like to serve these meatballs over a bed of rice or mashed potatoes. Place on rice and spoon bbq sauce over the meatballs.
Serve immediately.
Notes
You can also place the cooked meatballs in a slow cooker and pour bbq sauce mixture over the top. Set on LOW setting and serve at a party right out of the slow cooker.
