German Chocolate Fudge Recipe

This German Chocolate Fudge is out of this world. I have never had anything quite like it. If you are looking for a simple, delicious, and quick fudge recipe, than this is for you.

Ingredients

Chocolate Fudge

  • 4 cups chocolate chips (I used semi-sweet, but you can use milk chocolate if you prefer)
  • 14.5 ounces sweetened condensed milk 1 can
  • 3 Tablespoons butter

Topping

  • 1 cup evaporated milk canned
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 egg yolks slightly beaten
  • ½ cup butter 1 stick
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • cup coconut
  • cups chopped pecans
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips  (for drizzle on top of fudge), optional

Instructions

Fudge

  • Pour chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter into a microwaveable bowl.
  • Microwave for 45 seconds, then remove and stir. Continue microwaving in 30 second intervals (stirring in between each one) until mixture is smooth.
  • Pour chocolate chip mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 9x13" pan and let it cool.

Topping

  • Mix evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, margarine and vanilla together in a sauce pan.
  • Stir constantly over medium heat until it comes to a slow boil.
  • Cook, stirring constantly until it thickens - about 10 to 11 minutes (it must be cooked that long).
  • Remove from heat and stir in coconut and pecans.
  • Cool frosting before spreading on fudge.
  • You can melt semi-sweet chocolate chips and drizzle over top of topping (optional).
  • Serve in 1x1" squares (they're really rich, but really delicious!)

Notes

  • If you are looking for an easy shortcut to this recipe, use the canned german chocolate frosting, instead of making your own.
