Brownies:
- 1 cup butter
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate chopped
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 large eggs
- 1½ cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup walnuts chopped
Fudge Topping:
- 4½ cups sugar
- 12 ounces evaporated milk
- ½ cup butter cubed
- 12 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips
- 11½ ounces milk chocolate chips
- 7 ounces marshmallow creme
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 cups walnuts chopped
In a heavy saucepan melt butter and chocolate; stir until smooth. Remove from the heat; blend in sugar and vanilla. Add eggs; mix well.
In another bowl combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the chocolate mixture to the flour mixture and mix well. Stir in walnuts.
Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch glass baking pan. Bake at 350° for 25-27 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched.
Cool for about 1 hour.
For the topping, combine the sugar, milk and butter in a large heavy saucepan; bring to a boil over medium heat.
Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove from the heat. Stir in the chocolate chips, marshmallow creme and vanilla until smooth.
Add walnuts.
Spread over cooled brownies.
Refrigerate for about an hour.
Cut into small squares because they are quite rich.
Store in the refrigerator.
