Chocolate Orange Brownies Recipe

Ingredients

Brownies:

  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • cup cocoa powder
  • 4 eggs
  • cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Orange Frosting:

  • ¾ cup butter softened
  • 3 Tablespoons milk
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • teaspoons orange extract
  • red and yellow food coloring

Chocolate Ganache Topping:

  • cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup butter

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a bowl, beat together butter, sugar, and cocoa. Once it's completely mixed, add 4 eggs one at a time, mixing after each one. 
  • Add flour, salt and vanilla and mix well. Spread on large (10x15x1 inch) greased cookie sheet or jelly roll pan. 
  • Bake for 22-25 minutes and remove from oven once finished.
  • Let cool for 30-60 minutes (stick in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes to speed up the cooling process).
  • For the orange frosting, mix butter, milk, powdered sugar and extract. Add food coloring (I used about 10 drops of yellow and 3 drops of red to get my pale orange color).
  • Frost brownies and then put in freezer for another 20 minutes.
  • Melt chocolate chips and butter in the microwave and spread on top of the frosting layer.
  • Freeze another 20 minutes to set.
