Spicy Honey-Glazed Chicken

This Spicy Honey Glazed Chicken is easy to make and full of flavor. It is also healthy. My entire family asks for seconds every time I make this, so you may want to throw a few extra chicken breasts in if you want seconds, or leftovers for lunch the next day.

Summer food is my favorite. We literally grill a couple of times a week.

I am always looking for new rubs and marinades to try and this one didn’t disappoint.

If you are like me and always forget to marinate your meat a couple of hours before dinner, you will love this recipe because no marinading time is needed, but it is full of amazing flavor.

This is a great healthy recipe, that won’t break the bank. I’ve noticed that when we try and eat more clean, my grocery bill tends to climb a little, however, this is a delicious and inexpensive recipe.

My entire family loves this recipe, and is always requesting it. You have to try this one, I can only tell you so many times how delicious it is, but it is really so yummy.

what would be a yummy sauce to dip this chicken in?

I am alllll about the sauce. My husband and I are total sauce people.

We go as far as taking turns asking different Chick Fil A employees for extra Chick Fil A sauce. We are those kind of sauce people.

I just don’t like dry food. This recipe is not at all dry, but you know me, I dip what can be dipped.

My favorite thing to dip this chicken in, is honey mustard sauce. It pairs perfectly with this honey chicken.

Here is how I make mine:

Honey Mustard:

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon mayo

I mix it all together in a bowl, and I usually double it, when my kids ask for it ahead of time… but only if they ask for it.

  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper (depending on how hot you like it - I usually do 1/2 teaspoon)
  • Chicken:
  • 8 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar

  1. In a small bowl, mix together all rub ingredients (garlic powder, chili powder, salt, pepper, cumin, paprika, and cayenne).
  2. Place chicken on a large platter or pan and drizzle with oil, making sure each piece is evenly coated. Sprinkle rub on top and rub it all over each piece of chicken until chicken is completely coated.
  3. In a grill pre-heated to medium-high heat or an oven preheated to lo broil (about 400 degrees), cook chicken for 4-5 minutes per side or until chicken is fully cooked.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together honey and cider vinegar (to help make the honey easier to stir, warm it in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds). Set aside 1/2 of the glaze.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, brush 1/2 of the glaze on both sides of the chicken. Remove chicken from grill and drizzle the remaining glaze on top, then serve.

You could also make this recipe in your oven - instead of preheating the grill, turn on your oven's broiler.
Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and cook chicken for 5 minutes. Turn chicken over and continue cooking for 5 more minutes. Take chicken out of oven, brush on 1/2 of the glaze, and return to oven for 3 more minutes. Remove from oven, turn chicken one last time, and brush on remaining glaze. Let cook for 3-4 more minutes, then serve.
