Sheet Pan Fudgy Brownies Recipe

These Sheet Pan Fudgy Brownies are soft, chewy and so delicious. These are the best homemade brownies we've ever made! These made-from-scratch brownies are perfect for feeding a crowd at parties and potlucks.

These Sheet Pan Fudgy Brownies are quite possibly the best homemade brownies I’ve ever tasted.

Being a food blogger, I have tasted by fair share of brownies and these ones are the perfect combination of soft, chewy and chocolaty.

I love that these brownies are made from scratch.  I don’t know about you, but I think that homemade desserts always tastes the best!

These easy brownies can be made in a sheet pan, which means they make A LOT.  I love bringing these brownies to parties and potlucks because it’s easy to transport and sheet pan and they can feed 24+ people (depending on how small you cut them).


Sheet Pan Fudgy Brownie ingredients:

  1. Eggs
  2. Cocoa Powder
  3. Salt
  4. Baking Powder
  5. Vanilla
  6. Butter
  7. Sugar
  8. Flour

HOW TO MAKE THE BEST sheet pan fudgy brownies:

All you need is a few simple ingredients to make these delicious, homemade brownies.

Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees.

While the oven is heating up, beat together unsweetened cocoa powder and eggs until well combined. You can stir by hand, use a hand mixer, or a stand mixer.

Next, add salt, baking powder and vanilla and mix until combined.

Pour in melted butter and sugar and mix until well combined.

Mix in the flour until it’s well incorporated.  Make sure to use a rubber spatula to get all the flour off the sides of the bowl.

Spread the brownie batter into a half baking sheet that’s been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.

I always have helpers in the kitchen waiting to lick the beater(s).  Look at that face.  She was in the zone!

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Let cool then cut into bars and enjoy.

What kind of cocoa powder should I use?

You can use any kind of unsweetened cocoa powder that you want.  Just be sure it is unsweetened.  We grew up using Hershey’s cocoa powder, so that’s what was used for this recipe.

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 cups butter (melted)
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups flour


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Spray a half baking sheet (18 x 13 x 1 inch) with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, beat together eggs and cocoa powder.
  4. Add salt and baking powder and mix until combined.
  5. Mix in vanilla.
  6. Add melted butter and sugar and mix until well combined.
  7. Mix in flour until well combined.
  8. Spread in prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

    I just threw out the entire pan that I made. For me, it was too much butter. I feel like that was a mistake. Instead of 2 cups (which equals 4 sticks of butter!) should it be 2 sticks of butter, or 1 cup? This was a complete mess! Spilled over in my oven! I bake a lot so this is very unusual for me to throw out an entire pan, but it did not turn out at all. So disappointing.

    I’m not trying to be critical but I’m in the process of making this recipe. I’ve never come across a recipe that mixes things so strangely. Eggs and cocoa? This makes a huge mess and it’s not combining well. Usually recipes call for eggs mixed with sugar, then cocoa and melted butter mixed together. Can you review the directions and confirm please? Thank you!

    I just made these tonight for my daughters baby shower, tomorrow. I also thought it was strange adding the eggs and cocoa. I mixed it all by hand in one bowl. At first it was difficult but keep up with the mixing, it does come together. The amount of sugar and butter is alarming but the brownies are dense, fudgey and delicious, just how I prefer them. I’m only cutting them into small squares, as they are rich. Thanks!
  4. I made these today and followed the recipe exactly. They turned out amazing! I used a 20" x 13" pan, it made a lot. I'm making them for my granddaughter's basketball dinner. I'm sure they will love them. I read all the comments before I started to make them, so I was a bit hesitate. I'm glad I continued with the recipe! Thank you Six Sisters' for the recipe.
  5. Should have read the comments before trying this recipe.... The ingredients were close to my moms recipe which is yummy. She wasn’t around for me to get the recipe from so I tried this one. Too much cocoa powder (I would only use one cup). Too much butter. Not terrible. But not one I will make again. Finally got the recipe from my mom, and am sticking it where I won’t loose it again....

    Delicious 😋 my 6 kids love these we actually doubled up and did two sheet pans (some for freezing for my large family). As for the taste they are amazing! As for comments about sugar- it’s a cookie! Cookies are a sweet dessert meant to be eaten in moderation and if concerned I don’t recommend eating delicious cookies because that is exactly what these are- Delicious! The beauty to making your own as well you can cut as big or small as you please.
