Even though it doesn’t get too cold at the Disneyland Parks in the winter, it’s cold enough that you’ll want a jacket, and some of their AMAZING Hot Chocolate from the Napa Rose Restaurant in the Grand Californian hotel.
I’m dreaming of this pricey hot chocolate while 9 months pregnant, but there’s no way I am going to Disneyland anytime soon.
I decided to make some of my own from the comfort of my own kitchen. It was definitely worth the trip to the grocery store, even in my state.
This hot chocolate is the best hot chocolate, I have ever tasted. It is so easy to make and it so full of creamy delicious flavor, you are going to love.
could i make this recipe using almond milk?
You most definitely could make this recipe using almond milk, however, your hot chocolate won’t be as creamy and won’t take on the chocolate taste as well.
If you do use almond milk, we recommend adding a flavor, or buying some with a little sweetener, where almond milk is a little more bland and bitter.
The best hot chocolate toppings:
I am all about accessorizing my hot chocolate with delicious toppings. I have a lot of favorite toppings I like to add.
My favorite topping is crushed candy cane. I love the peppermint taste, combined with chocolate.
I also love dipping Oreo’s and graham crackers in my hot chocolate. If you thought they were good in milk, you need to try them in hot chocolate.
I also love adding whipped cream and cinnamon or nutmeg to my hot chocolate. It make is so creamy, and adds just the right amount of spice when you add some seasoning.
Have you ever seen those chocolate covered orange sticks at the store, around Christmas time? Have you dipped them in your hot chocolate? Out of this world.

But, have you ever tried Frozen Hot Chocolate. I’m telling you now, it is a game changer.
My sister that lives in Texas makes this every year around Christmas time, because hot chocolate is too hot, when it’s 80 degrees outside.

Ingredients
- 2 cups 2% milk
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder*
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk chocolate, grated
- 1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
- whipped cream for topping
- ground cinnamon for topping
Instructions
- In a medium sauce pan, pour milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium-high heat (be sure to watch it carefully - you don't want it to boil or scald!).
- In a large bowl, whisk together cocoa, sugar and milk chocolate. Slowly add this dry mixture to the milk mixture until completely combined.
- Reduce heat to medium.
- Add in sweetened condensed milk and vanilla, and stir until completely combined. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve in individual mugs.
- Top with whipped cream, ground cinnamon, and additional chocolate shavings, if desired.
Notes
*The original recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups cocoa. If you want a creamier, thicker cocoa like the one they serve at the restaurant, you'll want to add more cocoa.
