Quick & Easy Fish Tacos


My husband and I LOVE fish tacos. Anytime they are on the menu, at least one of us orders them. One of our favorite restaurants in Mexico had the most delicious fish tacos with red cabbage slaw. I was a little nervous at first, but it was love at first bite. After coming home, I was craving those battered fish tacos with red cabbage slaw, so I decided to try my hand at them. They were surprisingly easy (I used a few shortcuts), but they are definitely a “keep” in our book!

Quicky & Easy Fish Tacos

These quick and easy fish tacos with red cabbage slaw are a weeknight favorite at our house!

  • 6 battered fish fillets
  • 6 small tortillas (I used flour, but you can use corn, too)
  • 2 cups shredded red cabbage
  • 1/3 cup grated carrot
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and diced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • juice of one lime
  • 1-2 extra limes for squeezing over the top (optional)
  • cilantro for topping (optional)
  • chipotle mayo for topping (optional)


  1. Cook fish fillets according to package instructions.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together cabbage, carrot, green onion, jalapeño, garlic, mayonnaise, honey, and lime juice.
  3. Place one fish fillet on a tortilla, and top with 1/6 of the cabbage slaw. Top with extra fresh-squeezed lime juice, cilantro, and chipotle mayo.
