5-Star Grilled Teriyaki Chicken

 I am a sucker for marinades- marinated meat grills up so tender and juicy, plus it’s pretty healthy. And something about the smells of grilled food just remind me of summer . . .
 Anyway, this recipe couldn’t be any easier. Mix a couple of ingredients together in a bag, throw in some chicken, and let it soak all day long. Toss on the grill for dinner and you have a delicious meal that took only a couple of minutes to prep.
*PS We call this 5-Star Chicken because the first time I made it, my husband took a bite and said, “Five stars. This chicken deserves five stars.” 🙂 I think that you’ll agree.

  • 1 1 lb skinless, boneless chicken breasts (chicken tenders and thighs work too)
  • 1 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil


  1. Place chicken, teriyaki sauce, lemon juice, garlic, and sesame oil in a large ziploc bag. Close bag and shake to thoroughly coat the chicken. Place chicken in the refrigerator for 8-12 hours (I sometimes even marinate it overnight), turning the bag once or twice throughout the day to make sure the chicken is marinating evenly.
  2. When ready to cook, turn the grill on to high heat.
  3. Remove chicken from bag and immediately throw away any remaining marinade. Grill for 6 to 8 minutes on each side, or until juices run clear when chicken is pierced with a fork.
