Super Easy Country-Style Ribs

These super-easy country style ribs are quickly thrown in the slow cooker for a delicious meal your whole family will love!

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke, optional
  • 2 pounds boneless country-style pork ribs

Instructions

  1. In a large resealable plastic freezer bag, combine ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, seasoned salt and, if desired, liquid smoke. Add pork; seal bag and freeze.
  2. To use, place filled freezer bag in refrigerator 48 hours or until completely thawed. Transfer contents of bag to a 3-qt. slow cooker. Cook, covered, on low 5-6 hours or until meat is tender.
  3. Remove ribs to a serving platter. Skim fat from cooking liquid. If desired, transfer to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; cook 12-15 minutes or until sauce is reduced to 1-1/2 cups. Serve with ribs.

  1. Congratulations on the spread in Taste of Home, I will look for a copy at my grocery store. In regard to the ribs, is it necessary to freeze the ribs first before then thawing them and cooking in the slow cooker? Can they just be placed in the fridge to marinate for a period of time before cooking? Thank you.
  2. I just finished reading through your recipes in the Dec / Jan 2015 Taste of Home and have the same question as Tamara above. If you want to make the recipes right away, can you place the ingredients in the bag and marinate over night without the freezing step? I look forward to trying your recipes, they sound delicious and also appreciate the option to make ahead and freeze for another day. Great meals for College Students on the go too! Thank you
