To me, the best desserts are those that are gooey, chocolatey, and amazingly rich. However, my husband likes to switch it up every once in a while and he requested a banana cream pie this past week.
I have a confession to make . . . I don’t like pie crust.
I think that it’s bland and tasteless. Give me something chewy and chocolatey any day!
But, in order to save the marriage (ha ha!), I decided to compromise. I told him that I would make him a banana cream pie . . . but that I would make it my way.
The end result was perfect! I went with a Nilla Wafer Cookie crust (I was out of graham crackers, but I bet that a graham cracker crust would be awesome too!) and it was a big hit! I loved it, he loved it, the neighbors loved it . . . and the best part about it was that is was so simple to make.
So if you need a delicious dessert and are looking for something a little different, I would definitely give this a try!
